Froyo is NOT coming for Fascinate

Hope I did not come off like I was criticizing your post. I have read so many posts where VZW csr personnel say things that are clearly off the top of their head and state it as fact that I felt the need to let everyone know what we really know about things of that nature... just about nothing LOL.

If you are on your third or more clnr replacment phone you should be able to get an alternate device of equal value if the current device fails. It can be tough as the replacements are coming from the manufacturer . IE: the manufacturer is paying. If you change devices vzw is paying. It can be done though.

"@GalaxySsupport: @Nefmk1 Hi Nicholas, Froyo for the Fascinate is a sure thing! Unfortunately, we don't have an ETA yet. ^Sabrina"

This just in: according to justin bieber, we are being updated to 6G phones all with android 6.0.

Discuss. ;)

I'm running froyo via the Dl30 and works fine. All this dumbass heresay is just that. Before u post a rumor, think for 5 min and or do 10 minutes of forum reading, and retract your thought. When in doubt, don't post it.

wow. Just wow.

Also, there was a software update for the fascinate rolled out starting 2/3, so the rep was right about that but just confused, because it had nothing to do with froyo.

I am a vzw csr. I would love to know where she saw that. VZW tells us next to nothing that cannot be found in these forums already. The only advance info we get on new products for instance is an online course maybe a day or two before it is viewable on the vzw website. That is usually a few days after a product announcement. A VZW employee in marketing, engineering etc will know the future but not us CSR folks. Look at it this way. There are like five thousand of us. How could they possibly give any real secret info to that many people and expect it to stay a secret ? They know they cannot so they do not.

Why would telling your customers that an update for their phones is being worked on need to be a secret? This is not national security.

Actually, the policy being cited here is years out of date. VZW no longer replaces with a different model after 3 failed replacements. Too many people used to take advantage of this by returning "faulty" units so they could get something else.

At least that how I understand it....

While there is no policy per se it is done. Case by case basis. I don't think there ever was a set policy.

What's been wrong with your replacements?

IV had all different kinds of problems from battery lasting only 6hrs with barely any use to internet being super slow and unable to play any YouTube videos ..they went through all the phones and they couldn't figure out how to fix any so they have just been giving me new phones...

You really don't know what you're talking about.

While I do not engage in forum squabbles I will tell you that I most certainly do know for a fact that if a device has been replaced numerous times it can be replaced with another device. It flat out happens. I am not guessing about this. I have seen it done.

One case in point. The Fascinate has an issue with email delivery in certain areas. The customer switched to a Fascinate from a BB. The phone is used for business. The customer is losing business over the email delivery. A replacement device was sent. The problem persisted. Tech Support authorized a different replacement device. This is not top secret vzw info. Just something that happens on a case by case basis.

As far as a software update concerning Froyo. As of yesterday the latest software release is the one that was rolled out in January. There is nothing to support a roll out dated for what was stated in the previous post.

If you are a store rep and basing it on your in store experience I can understand your disagreement. Stores sell mostly and do limited customer service so exposure to this type of activity is limited. If you are not affiliated with vzw in anyway I do not understand your statement that I do not know what I am talking about without any input as to why.

I spent 10 hours in a vzw call center yesterday and handled 60 plus customer requests from I Phone tech support to billing. I will handle a few hundred over the next week. Just like the weeks before and the weeks after. I do know something.:)

I just spoke with a samsung rep. earlier today. She informed me they are still working on a more reliable 2.2 release for the fascinate. She said the eb01 has a few minor flaws, and they want to make sure everything works as it should. She could not tell me an official release date, but she said it should be very soon. Heard that before....??
This was a good conversation though since normally you hear the same old if/when b.s about froyo.
I also mentioned that the US Cellular version (mesmerize) is scheduled for the 2.2 update this month. This phone is almost identical to the fascinate except for the Verizon crapware. It even has the same model # SCH-I500. It has to be SOONER than later rite??
