you don't have to rom to get rid of touchwiz just go nova or apex launcher.

But the Note 2 will go down as this years best phone by far with the combination of build, speed, features, and technology that will allow it to be a 2 year phone. Quad core + 2 gigs of ram gives you endless possibilities. So those waiting for the note 2 but contemplating the razr because of the hype I say wait. Because this time next week you will be glad you waited. And for me IF the release date is on or around the 31st that will be my pay day.

That is the exact line of thinking that I agree with. Apple makes small improvements each year, but it's not truly enough to get the new iWhatever each year. But, the N2 looks like it will bomb all other devices with specs that no one has done yet or will do for almost 2 years. All other companies will be trying to catch up for 2 years.

I could have sworn that I saw one of the YouTube videos & saw a button in the settings menu for turning TouchWiz off. I'll try to see if I can find that video & everyone can speculate about it.

Was bored at lunch. Called a local Verizon store and they said they think the N2 will be released mid to late Nov. Called another one and they said beginning of Nov. Called the website and the girl said probably will be released with all the other carriers. All said they weren't allowed to say for sure.

I picture a bunch of guys in suits with sunglasses standing behind the sales force with a gun to their heads. They want things kept quiet!

Not saying ur Lieing or anything so don't take it the wrong way but I hardly doubt Samsung would include something to turn their own UI off. Some things wouldn't work properly without it, u know. But hey I've been wrong before lol.

I've had this phone for over a week now and know every inch of the OS. There is NO way to turn touchwiz off. That is the OS skin. You would need to root unlock and change the firmware completely.

With a nod to the earlier discussion on release date, I tacitly agree that they may want to release it as near to the competitors release dates for fear of customers jumping ship--I would totally jump.

But I think another consideration is Black Friday. I think an early release is more likely because they are going to want to make some money off of early adopters before lowering prices--a process that seems to take about a month (if memory serves). With Black Friday coming at about a month from the announcement date, I think the timing is compelling for them.

Of course this skips past other considerations and my memory isn't that great so you can count this as wishful thinking right along with the other overly sunny prognostications.
