Gingerbread battery drain

Without reading the whole thread, did anybody mention this fix?
Reboot into clockwork recovery, select 'advanced' then select 'wipe battery stats'

I had a battery drain problem and this fixed it for me. While I was at it I also 'wipe Dalvik cache'

Anyway, worked for me.

Oh and I should mention I always run Juice Defender and Screeble. I typically get 24 - 36 hours with light to moderate use. (I listen to music, surf web, send texts, twitter, but dont' do much actual phone calling).

After 8 hours of use mostly idle, Display 35%, Phone idle 30%, Cell standby 25%.
This is ridiculous!
And this is after I fixed my perpetual contact sync problem, which I thought was draining the battery.

What are you talking about? The question is how much you've used. Those percentages are the percentage of what's been used. So if you're still at 70%, the display has only used 10.5% of your total charge (35% of 30).

Battery was around 60%
And all the numbers on the Battery Usage did not total 100%
In the 9 months I've owned my DroidX, I've never seen Phone idle or Cell standby take up that proportion of usage.

They had to equal nearly 100%, you've got 90% listed with just those three items. And if you got 8 hours out of 40%, that means you should get about 20 hours on that charge. That's not bad.

Better battery

After I recieved GB I have had TERRIBLE battery life. I used Juice Defender before. Yesterday I uninstalled JD and re-installed it and now I have gone 12 hrs and my battery is at 60% which is the same as it was before GB. That is the only thing I have done for what it's worth. GB is better when you have battery. FYI

I don't get it maybe I just need to use my phone way more??? Never really had issues to start with but gb made it 100% better I got like 1 day 10 hours out of a charge and a half.....that's with running internet text twitter music standby ext.... but since I cant use my phone at all while working I find sleep mode is great ....another thing with battery heat mines actually seemed to cool down before it would get hot enough to concern me now it usually feels rather cool

i called verizon yesterday told them about the issue they have said they have quite a few calls about this issue there going to send me a new battery i def dont think thats the issue it worked perfect before the updays ide get 15 hours easy if not more now i cant even get 8 on a full charge

did they try and make you do a factory reset, or did they just ship a new battery without any troubleshooting?

That's mostly standby. 20 hours of mostly standby is bad. I used to be able to use the phone normally and only have to charge it every evening. Now I need to charge it at work too if I start using my phone

Surely there must be an app that indicates what processes are chewing up the battery in the background, or while in standby..

i did 2 factory resets myself but i told them i did it and there sending me the new battery i let the phone discharge completly last night and i left it off overnight and let it charge overnight it seems bettertoday its been off for 6 hours and its still at 70% and i have been useing it alot today

Motorola claims the DroidX has 480 minutes talk time and 220 hours standby!

Those times seem like what we all used to get with late version cell phones when they were just phones.

I am waiting out a bug fix for GB. I don't see any performance improvement in GB, and the grey screens look cheap and use more power than the black screens in Froyo. I am seeing a battery discharge rate of 6 hours from full to dead with all the settings for battery saving I can find. I have tried the suggestions in this forum to help the battery life. No improvements.

Charging 2-3 times a day makes me realize how un-mobile this problem makes the device. I love this DroidX it is far better than the p.o.s. htc 1st generation smartphone I was using, but Motorola has got to patch this issue. They admit on the phone that this is a "known issue" with the GB update.

Instead of looking at Froyo vs. GB, is there a physically larger battery and adapter plate cover for the DroidX? On an old Moto I had years back this was an option and improved standby time immensely. The physical design of the back of the X looks like a double thickness battery would fit easily if a cover was made to replace the stock cover.

Batteries seem to stay the same size and the processors, applications, and other capacities seem to keep growing... this makes no sense. I am completely down with lugging twice the size battery around in order to actually have a "mobile" device.... again.

Wel I was having GPS issues could not find GPS lose GPS. I also had poor battery service. I called customer service we did factory reset. I spoke to a higher technical rep and cleared everything cache and data on phone trying to get gps to work. My wife called back later on as issue was not resolved and replacement came through mail. The issues I mentioned are known according to rep. The replacement I recieved had GB 596 already installed. No issues yet GPS works great and battery works great.

The only issue that got on my nerves was everytime it is charged it would wake me up telling me to unplug. I found the setting though though under sound and all the way at the bottom and unchecked battery full function. All in all the update on this phone is great. I was mad when my phone was messed up but now its resolved. I have to say verizon took care of me :icon_ banana:

battery life has been poor for me with gb. froyo roms were better battery wise for my x

It's not that my wife uses her Droid X more, the battery life is actually worse.
