Gizmodo Review

Um, there's nothing "wrong" with Gizmodo's Nexus.

Do people know anything about photography? Every reviewer will be shooting under different lighting, and the Crayola shot looks like it's studio flood lighting which means it might as well be like shooting outside in bright day light.

The Gizmodo photos are probably far more realistic.

Actually I do. Photography is a huge hobby of mine.
And I understand where you are coming from with the lighting situation. Which makes sense for the Crayon picture.
But that doesn't really make sense with the picture of the Ferris wheel, or any of the outside photos, or how about the video quality comparison where the GNex video looked completely washed out and over exposed. Yet there is tons of video footage on youtube, including the time lapse footage that was shown in late October, and none of those videos look washed out.

Look at all the reviews. Even the outside pictures without any professional lighting. All of Gizmodo's photos and videos from their GNex are washed out and over-exposed. Yet pretty much all of the other reviews were not.

Now, if you know as much about photography as you are claiming you do, then you would realize that it IS possible that there is something wrong with their camera's senser, causing it to over expose everything.

Um, what???

CNET

Engadget

BGR

Phonearena, etc etc...

ALL show what Gizmodo basically shows, a camera that compares poorly to the Galaxy S2/iPhone 4S. Yes, overexposed sometimes, under-saturated, out of focus often and soft.

The ONE website that gives you like 4 comparison pictures of ideal lighting (Modaco) with the Crayola and the Ferris Wheel ... unrealistic, you probably won't be getting these great results very often if at all (unless it really was incredibly bright outside).

I don't see why he is so bent on not having a dedicated button for the camera. To me, the software button on the nexus seems faster than the method I need to do with my x.

Hardware buttons necessary when you don't have exposed fingers. Trying to take a photo in winter or working with gloves on.

You have to swype and unlock the DX to use it's hardware button, what's the difference?

Benchmarks

I know this isn't in the Gizmodo review, its in the Engadget one, but am I the only one worried the the Galaxy Note destroys the GNex in most of the benchmarks? I mean, I guess you could attribute some of the loss to the benchmarks running improperly on the new OS... I just wish we got the 1.4GHz Exynos CPU in the Note...

I wish it got that cpu from the Note as well. Oh well, overclock it!

Equinox?

Exynos :happy3:

Actually, it is the first phone with ZERO shutter lag. We need to stretch this feature.
I drive a lot to/from work and like to shoot (collect) accidents occurring on the road. With my current original droid, most of the time I miss the shot. So for me instant shutter means a lot to me.
Btw, for any more serious photo I use my Canon, which regrettably I must say, lacks the phone capability:biggrin:
