Gizmodo Review

I do NOT think those particular GN photos are undersaturated, I think the GS2 photos are oversaturated. I realize that extreme oversaturation is 'cool' these days but it's not what your eyes are seeing. I'd rather the camera capture what I see and then if I want to add saturation to my photo until it is radioactive I can do that in post processing. The current trend of oversaturation both in cameras and screens is frustrating to me. The real world doesn't look like a Windows screen saver. Not everything is primary colors. /rant

Seriously? In those situations buy a real camera.
I'm glad my inc uses the optical trackpad as a camera button especially when I go snowboarding. I like to take pictures while I'm on the lift or on top of the slope, so I can see why no physical camera button can disappoint.

My wife's had the D Inc for 2 years now. The other day she asked me to take a picture of her and a friend and I used the optical trackpad to take the pic. She had no idea you could do that. All these years she's hated the camera because she had to tap and hold on the screen and it was really frustrating to her. Now she's taking pictures all day every day which is really frustrating to me.

Actually, it is the first phone with ZERO shutter lag. We need to stretch this feature.
I drive a lot to/from work and like to shoot (collect) accidents occurring on the road. With my current original droid, most of the time I miss the shot. So for me instant shutter means a lot to me.
Btw, for any more serious photo I use my Canon, which regrettably I must say, lacks the phone capability:biggrin:

If you are taking pictures of accidents while you're driving you may collect one firsthand.

Does the Nexus camera have built-in preset adjustments like the Rezound does? On that one you can adjust saturation, contrast, sharpness, etc, BEFORE the pic is taken.

The Nexus camera doesn't disappoint me. The problem looks to be a little under-saturated and a little low on contrast. If that can't be fixed with a software update, it will take me 15 seconds to fix in PicSay pro. The major selling point for me is that it has the fastest shutter speed of any camera in the market.

THAT is what I'm looking forward to. You can fix saturation and contrast easily, you can't fix a missed or blurry shot because of a slow shutter :)

+1 Get the shot first and foremost. Worry about the adjustments later!

Yeah the Nexus does have adjustable camera settings, so we should be able to squeeze out a better shot if there are saturation issues.

Since I've used the OG for so long, I'm just happy I won't miss every damn picture I try to take because of the insanely slow shutter speed.

Some people are being absolutely ridiculous with this whole camera thing comparing it to other camera phones. Its not as bad as people are making it out to be and I really think people are just looking for **** to nitpick on this phone, the camera is more then sufficient for day to day use and snapping a quick photo on the spot, I was not aware that people used camera phones for any kind of professional photography. I have no problem with people comparing phones features side by side and its is nice to see the differences between phones, but it seems like they are making this phones camera out to be the worst ever and its not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. From all the photos ive seen taken by the nexus it actually seems like a decent shooter for a 5mp camera and the 1080p is not bad either, perfectly fine for shooting friends doing stupid things or for the occasional family event where you want to capture some memories. You arent going to look back at these pictures and videos and think to yourself "should have gotten that GS2, would have looked way better". /endrant

I agree. I am much more concerned about the CPU and whether it will hold up to two years in my hands. I just don't use the camera for anything more than occasional shots of sweet cars or cute brothers and sisters.

Hell, if there was some octocore phone that somehow had a great battery life, was thin and ran well on android, but didn't have a camera I would seriously think about getting it. Its just not a major selling point to me.

I will love this camera after having the Droid 1 camera no more -chicka chicka chicka sound-

Haha, so true man. I can't wait to oust this OG. Takes the damn camera forever to start up, then it makes that horrible noise, which I originally though was something wrong with my phone.
It also seems like its gotten worse. It takes forever to focus now, and the shutter is so slow, half the time I just catch a blur of what I was originally taking a photo of. I actually gave up, haven't used the camera on it in months.

You have to swype and unlock the DX to use it's hardware button, what's the difference?

If you use an app that keeps the lock disabled (as I do) this statement is invalid.
I can turn my phone on by pressing any button except the camera button.

Camera won't be a deal breaker for me, it's something I doubt any phone will have my jaw dropping
