GOODBYE Thunderbolt - After 1 week of constant battery drainage, i gave up

I think I'm going to return mine tomorrow. I'll wait for the Bionic. The battery just sucks too much, and the 3g fades in and out. (Which never happens on the D1 or iPhone 4)

This is the 3rd HTC phone I've owned, and I actually think its the worst!

Do you seriously think the battery on the bionic is going to be better? Think about it a little

Yes. Motorola phones have better battery life than HTC phones why would that change....

Also, the 3g dropping is a deal breaker. It actually dropped twice while typing this. I have 4 full bars though... My D1 never dropped signal in a covered area.

I'm going to talk the rep into keeping 4g on my bill though to lock in the price. I'm going with that mission in mind. I shoulda went with my first instinct and waited for the Bionic. I guess I paid 35 to be a beta tester...

Potential buyers beware!!! This phone stinks!

ever think you got a lemon? bc mine works awesome!

potential buyers beware this phone rocks and makes the locked down bionic look bad :)

enjoy ur locked device like the x and d2.

and without a 4g device y would they lock u into unlimited 4g???? wonder if i can get locked into unlimited 5g and maybe 6g!

I don't have a 5g contract right now... So that's ridiculous. I DO have a 4g contract, and since I bought the phone retail, I may be able to keep the plan.

How can you say it makes the Bionic look bad, have you used the Bionic??? No, I don't have a lemon, this is the second TB I've already had... If I had 2 lemons, then that's another reason NOT to buy this phone.

If this phone works for you, great. But, it is a sub-par product to me. No amount of romming can fix the 3g dropping issue as I'm certain its a design flaw. Also, the battery is tiny. Period.

Its 2011 our phones are supposed to be wireless. This phone has to be tethered to the charger so often that i can barely call it a mobile device!!!

1. The Bionics are having the same battery issues.
2. You don't have a 4G contract.

1. It can't be as bad... The atrix is MUCH better on the battery than the TB.

2. Yes I do, I have a monthly 4g contract. I looked at my bill earlier and it says unlimited 4g data plan... Nowhere does it say 4g data plan for Thunderbolt only. As long as the Bionic releases before I sign a new contract (buy paying my monthly rate) I may be alright. I will try to keep that line open and just pay the $30 for next month whether I have a phone on it or not.

I'll report back and let you guys know if I get to keep my 4g plan.. the OP said he didn't, but I'm going to complain, complain, complain until I get my way. I feel like Verizon took my money for a device they knew was no good.

*I really find it funny that people are personally hurt by what I'm saying!!! You guys trashing phones that aren't even out yet to justify your purchase!!!

Enjoy your 3hr battery life, and remember as the battery gets older it gets worse and worse...*

Oh really? I'd like to see what data plan it is that you have that says anything about 4g...

I have to admit, I'm shocked you didn't get an iPhone, as much as you talk about it. As far as 3G not dropping out on it, I suggest you read the consumer report on the VZW iPhone. Quoted to suffer from the same "Death grip" as AT&T's version. Which is a "design flaw" as well. Complain all you'd like, 4G plans can't be on a 3G device, NetAce will kick it back out, I promise.

I did get an iPhone, that's why I bought the TB retail!! I think I may be able to keep the 4g pricing because I won't be putting a 3g device on that line, my buddy told me I could "suspend" the line, return the phone, and then not "unsuspend" until I get the Bionic and it *should* work for keeping my pricing. He works at a VZW kiosk in the mall.

Apple addressed the Death-grip with the release of the bumper... Do you think HTC will do the same? Honestly?

They have already forgotten about the TB, they've got 84 other phones releasing this year.....

Sorry but your friend is incorrect. The features aren't put on hold or "reserved" when a line is suspended. I worked for VZW corporate and can tell you that.
TB doesn't suffer from the death grip so a bumper would be pointless. Why didn't Apple catch that before releasing it? They're designed by humans so, they will all have flaws. It's just the way it is...the perfect phone doesn't and will never exist.
And, no "3 hour battery life" here, I'm getting 10+ hours. If I wasn't impressed, I'd activate one of the other 5 Motorolas I own :)

if talking about the iphone means you'll get one, i think every android user on this forum would have one...

I think they are saying that about me to try and "discredit" me somehow!!! LOL.
I'm so happy that I am not so beholden to one company that I have to put every other company down illogically for the rest of my existence....

I did get an iPhone though, and I love it. Far better purchase than the Thunderbolt.

I would get the SE Play if it were 4g, but I think the Bionic is my next purchase. I might just get an iPad 2 with my return money and wait for iPhone 5 as my next phone!!!

Not at all but, it seems like as far as you're concerned, the iPhone is the end all, be all of cell phones and its not. Not downing the phone by any means but I'm not putting it on a pedestal either. I'm also not "beholden to one company" either, I've owned 3 iPhones myself and this is my first HTC product. So far, I'm impressed. If you're not, that's on you.

Love my bolt, had an X it was a good phone with liberty. But not looking back now that I have 12 + hours of thunderbolt in my hand.

"On the battery side, the Atrix 4G packs an impressive 1930mAh battery inside, and even though Android is data intensive, we found ourselves squeezing more than 24 hours out of the device on a single charge with fairly heavy use. You can probably get more time out of the device if you avoid calls when possible and keep your brightness settings in check, but we were pleasantly surprised by the performance we saw."

"We are still conducting our battery drain tests, but we are getting 7 to 10 hours of continuous talk time on a single charge."

What were you saying about the Atrix battery?

I'm looking at the Bionic, I know it'll be rootable so that's fine enough for me. I know Moto/VZW will stop supporting it like 2 months after its release haha, but whatever.

The TB I was interested in, and I love that the bootloader is open now, but like you I don't think I could handle bad battery life (although I guess some people have success with it). Maybe I'll buy it retail and test it out for a while before deciding. And who knows, the Bionic might have a crappy battery too, but I guess the 14 day period is more then enough time to figure all that out and pick the phone that works for me.

Exactly. I figured I'd try it out, and report back. Now that I don't like it and explain why, everyone wants to kill me!!!

I am sure the Bionic is going to be a far superior device, and based on the Atrix battery reviews, I am certain the Bionic will have great battery life. The Cnet review said the Atrix works for 7-10 hours of continuous talk time, that's almost as long as the TB lasts idling.
