Is there anyway to make google go into offline mode while navigating?

For battery purposes it would be really nice for the GPS to shut down and then maybe turn on every so often based on your direction, and estimated time until your next turn to make sure you are on the right track.

Google maps in installed standard on Droid X, how do you get this latest update?

I checked the market and there was an update for it.

I dont see 3D yet....it looks like the maps are downloading or populating. At first I couldnt see any street or anything. It looked like I was in the middle of the desert ...lol Its starting to fill in. Dont know if 3D will show all the way or not tho..

Yea...I see the outlines where the 3D buildings are gonna be, they just not there yet...

Mine is working just fine with standalone turned off . I'm inside my house and it located me in a few seconds with the standalone off .
Between that and internal cache maps ability I'm so stoked at this update. The quadrupling of the speed doesn't hurt either

Nope I can get my map to rotate, just nothing is in 3d, somehow I don't think that has anything to do with me.

I am running froyo. Droid 1 miui. And no error is popping up. Love the speed increase though
