Google Voice

So I just got my invite from Google. But I dont need it anymore...since I got an invite from someone else last month. I wonder if its possible to forward the email to someone who needs an invite. If so...the first person that responds gets it.

just got the invited to Google Voice

So...... What is the big hub bub here? I just don't get why I couldn't live without it. Maybe I am not using it to its full potential. Please help me figure it out.

Ok so I have just received an invite to Google Voice. I am not sure which option to select. I want the actual new Google Voice number. However I've been thinking. If I make calls from that number...will that cost against my minutes? Also what if a Verizon cell users such as family members call the Google Voice number from their phone? Will they be charged of minutes? I plan on it ringing to my cell phone every time (for now). I am worried about minutes as I have gone over. I would like to have google voice and a separate number which is customizable, however I do not want to be charged of minutes. Will I be charged minutes of all outgoing calls? I do not know. If someone can help me, your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Oh yes rooted with 2.2 Froyo Kangerade V1.0 .... This is ULTRA SMOOTH!!!! super fast scrolling through screens. No Lag with anything.....no more loading through text messaging or anything!! Very nice!

oh yes and maybe if someone helps they will receive a google voice invite!!!

Okay guys this is probably a stupid question, considering people stalking these threads do not already have Google Voice, but could someone direct me to where my invites are in GVoice? I want to know if I even have any to hand out to you guys. I unfortunately was not able to obtain any here, but I know if I give it to a Droid user it will go to some use! Do I get any automatically at first signup or am I just waiting til they give me some down the road?

The extra invites don't come as soon as you get your invite from the Google Team. They take anywhere from a week to a couple of months to get your extra invites.

If you call someone either through google voice or verizon, verizon sees it as a call and charges you. The only way to get around that is a friends and family account where you add google voice as a free number. Then calls you make using google voice will not be charged.

If an incoming phone call comes in with the called id displaying the actual caller, verizon will charge you for the call, even if google voice is listed as a free caller in friends and family. However, In your google voice settings (in a web browser) you can set google voice to only show its own number in caller id and to screen each caller. In this case, verizon will not charge you for the incoming call.

If a verizon caller calls you,I recommend giving them your standard number. Neither of you will be charged that way. Mobile to Mobile is free on all plans afaik. And the only way to handle calling them is to have google ask you which number to use each time.

Hope I helped.

Thanks for that quick reply! I noticed it is not really easy to navigate to GVoice as it's not a part of their "more" menu from within the site, and I pretty much clicked every link looking for them. I signed up for Gmail when Gmail was beta and the invites were in the bottom left under labels and stuff. I guess I'll just know when I get one!
