Gorilla Gadgets 3500mAh Extended Battery

"Edit - sorry for sounding like such a battery maniac. Ever since I've received this phone, I've just been extremely disappointed with the D2G's battery life, almost to the point of returning the phone (and now, half-regretting that I'm outside of the 30-day phone return window). I thought the GG 3500 mAh battery would be the solution to all of these problems.[/QUOTE]

Give it a while then you feel the boost i was upset at first now i cant kill the battery i go 2 to 3 days with moderate use. with heavy use i get about 20 hrs np. when using battery pro did you set up the profile for the extended battery?

I'm not sure what you mean by "set up the profile." All I did was make a profile called "Gorilla Gadgets," set the battery capacity to 3500 mAh, and set it to calibrate. I don't have any other battery profiles since I downloaded BL Pro after I installed the GG battery. I'm hoping battery life somehow improves, but I don't see how it could improve by 50-100% when I've already charged the thing overnight twice.

On a side note, how long do you all charge this battery? The battery meter currently says 100% on both the system and BL Pro meters. I remember reading somewhere on the GG website that they recommend charging the phone for 2-3 hours after the battery indicates it's 100% charged.

Im using stock moto battery I charge it for about an hour from 0 to 100. I normally let it charge for a while after. I am running fission 2.4.3 and I do not use any battery apps. Im on the phone most of the day and get 20+ hrs easy I don't see why you all use these crazy apps and extended batterys.

I did have fission and no apps that are constantly running. Its not that I think your lieing, I just dont get how its possible :). I was using a battery saver but saw no real change. Its not like I use my phone all day either...Never had gps or anything on..Does wifi honestly use less battery? Someone else care to chime in on that? Im not to worried about my battery life anymore with this battery. :) and it was strange before, my battery left pro was reading ~40 percent and the stock was reading ~70. It also almost seems the stock is reading correctly. I guess Ill find out when it dies :).

I was under the impression that if you have a constant wifi connection available, then keeping your wifi on will save battery, otherwise keep wifi off.

@terrets, my BL Pro was doing the same thing yours is doing - for instance, BL Pro saying 1% left when stock says 30%, etc. Obviously BL Pro was reading it incorrectly, and at least it seemed as though the stock meter was reading it correctly. I attributed this to BL Pro not being calibrated correctly. I'm assuming you also have the GG 3500 mAh battery. Is your battery skinned with a blue picture coating, or is it the older black/white text style?

Now I'm on my third discharging cycle. BL Pro says 52% remaining, 3919 MV. System info saying 70% battery remaining and 8 hrs since unplugged. This is with practically no use on my phone today - system idle is the single greatest usage of power at 30%.

It is the gorilla 3500 blue..both battery readings have said 1%/5% for the past 14hrs and my phone has been up for 27hrs on second discharge. LOvin it.

Edit: Finally died after about 28hrs. That was the second cycle I went through.

Yeah you're getting much, much better battery life than I am getting. Yesterday, the battery lasted only 7.5 hours for me. Pretty shocking.

Manoman when you say your battery is done what are you using to make that determination?

the 5% warning or the phone actually shutting off?

Cause the 5% is a total crock of crap and I have seen 5% last another 5 or 6 hours provided your not trying to crackberry with the phone. You can even make a 30 Min phone call at 5% and get another 2 or 3 hours of use after that.

I'm talking about complete device shutoff, as in if I hold the power button, the phone does not turn on or do anything. Today, with 0 phone use (except to periodically turn on the display to check the battery %) I'm sitting at 3900 mV and 8 hours since unplugged. I'm not going to use my phone at all to see how long it lasts.

Small update, I contacted gorilla gadgets and got an exchange for my battery. It just didnt make sense why the stock battery would last longer than the 3500 mAh battery. They sent me a new one, and it arrived within 3 days.

Now testing this battery - charged it for 3-4 hours after receiving it to make sure its full, wiped battery left pro, then unplugged my phone. It's sitting at 3895 mV after being unplugged for 17 hours. Definite, already way way way better than the other one, which would already be dead at this point. So if you're getting poor battery life, it could be the battery itself - they accept returns within 30 days.

Thanks for the update....I would go back to using this battery if I didn't have to start at the red low battery light when it really had 40% left to go.

Can't say for sure if it makes a differance but I never turn off wifi and it doesn't seem to drain my battery. I have had it on for the past month before that I used 3g because I thought it used less battery.

I just ordered my battery this past Saturday, so hopefully it gets shipped today! I am excited to have these +20-30 hours of battery life! The bulkyness and flashing red light is going to suck, but atleast my battery will last for hours without a charge! I'll send pictures of my phone and updates on the battery soon! :)

@satoru - keeping wifi on while not connected to wifi -will- drain your battery because your phone will constantly look for available wifi connections = using power

So..... small update, pretty much the new battery they sent me is 1000% better than the old battery. Currently sitting at 3659 mV (30% remaining), it's still going on its first full charge at 1 day 12 hours unplugged. This includes two 30 minute phone calls, playing angry birds, some texts / emails / sync turned on, taking / uploading a dozen photos, updating all of my apps, some internet browsing, using a live wallpaper, etc. I'm convinced there was something very wrong with the other battery they sent me.

Currently very happy and can't wait to see what battery life is like after the 2nd and 3rd charge! I'm actually *HAPPY* that the system is reading the battery incorrectly (5% remaining) and red LED indicator flashing because that means the battery is actually working.

Now I just hope they don't charge me for the 2nd battery... I already have to pay shipping back to them.
