Having An Issue With 2.1 - Come In Here

I just manually updated 2.1 and everything is awesome. My only problem is i cant find google earth in the marketplace can anybody help me please

Same here, updated manually and everything works great. But I can't find it either. Tried going to the google website and sent a text and couldn't open the url, got an error message. Then I tried using the barcode finder, and got an error message saying that the page could not be found. WTF did they pull it off?

Ya I went to m.google.com/earth and it force closes...maybe there is no Google Earth support in 2.1??

seems to be a "feature" of 2.1

Stands to reason though. If your display is on you can visually see it.

Saves a small amount of juice I suppose : )

It's funny, when the original 2.1 port from the N1 to the Droid came out, everybody thought it was a bug.... Methinks it's one of the "battery life improvements" that 2.1 brought to the table. Seems like it would have a MINIMAL impact, although I suppose over time it might make a tiny bit of a difference. It DOES make more sense to not have the notification light blinking while the screen is off, though.

This is no problem but i was just wondering if anyone also noticed that when powering off the phone..it also makes the "Droid" sound now...never noticed it before till this update. and just to clarify things..is it still possible to get the OTA notification update?

Yes powering off gave me the Drooooiiiiiiid as well.

No you will not be prompted with the OTA notification

Yep, it's the "SD card unmounted" notification tone. Actually, it will sound whatever you have set as your default notification.

I updated last night, everything seems to be alright.

I realized the LED won't blink unless the phone is asleep. I do NOT like that because sometimes I am playing a game that takes up the whole screen, and it won't blink. it kind of bugs me a little bit.

So, this morning I did a factory reset thinking it would sort out my LED problem (not knowing it only flashes when the phone is asleep) and now a few things aren't working anymore when they previously did before the reset.

1. Facebook Sync won't work anymore. When i tried to add the account, I logged in and everything, and then it didn't do anything. Now when I try to add account and hit 'facebook', nothing happens. I rebooted, pulled the battery, and what not, and I've got nothing. Not sure why it won't sync.

2. Also, haptic feedback won't work either. I no longer get the vibrations when typing with the onscreen keyboard. Anyone have any information on that?

Other then those 'three' issues, I like the update. Live wallpapers are good and HelixLauncher works well. I have also noticed we have a Latitude widget we can load on our home screens. That's pretty nice =]

Did you try removing and re-adding the facebook account again? Maybe try another factory reset, or re-apply the update, if it lets you. I had to factory wipe after in installation of 2.1 because of google sync isues.

Well, after I added it, it doesn't show up. The account isn't in the list so there is no way for me to remove or anything. It's basically like it never existed. So I have no way of doing anything about it.

I'm sure it's not up for discussion but why are we not allowing threads for specific issues with 2.1 and creating just one megathread that hardly anyone will attempt to read to see if their issue has been mentioned yet? It's only bee a day and already well over 200 posts in this thread. Seems that OS update issues would be too broad a subject to compress into a single thread with any degree of efficiency or organization.

And if this thread must exist barring any specific threads, why is it in General Discussion instead of Tech Issues, Bug Reports, and Suggestions?

Hmm, if you can't see your facebook account in the Sync area to remove, it sounds like another factory reset may be your only recourse. It worked for me.

I still find it when I just search for simply "earth". Granted, I already have it installed though...

This large thread is nice because there are so many subscribers to this thread that its easy to get help.

The bad thing is i'm starting to see a lot of the same questions because, like you said, people aren't reading through all the previous pages.

I dunno, maybe people should just read like we had to! lol :wink:

Tried to use Navigation and the GPS would not lock. Another GPS app had my speed in the car at 287 mph (yes i was in a Camry and the accelerator pedal was not stuck).

I performed an off/on cycle...nothing; did a battery pull...no joy; finally did a factory reset from the command-line update screen [power + hold (x)] and that seemed to remedy whatever problem it was having.

Somewhat mystified...

Had the same problem, but I only need to pull the battery...i did leave it pulled for about 10 min though.

Did the manual update from the official google servers and no Google Earth is showing up in Market.

Even when I go to another google app and click on view more apps from this developer...no Google Earth. I know I can download an APK, but what the heck is the deal?

So far, Launcher 2, and helix and helix 2 have not worked properly, with constant FCs. I have gotten Helix working again by uninstalling it and reinstalling from the market.

You have to turn the haptic feedback back on in settings. Go to menu>settings>Language & Keyboard>Android Keyboard>Vibrate on keypress.

That's all it took for me anyway.

Worked for me, too. I had originally only gone to sound settings. Thanks for the info.
