Having An Issue With 2.1 - Come In Here

I did the manual update yesterday and have noticed a couple things, when on the home screen i can not get the orientation to change unless i pull out the keyboard, also the keyboard backlighting seems to flake out, cut on cut off.Anyone else havin this issue?
Check to see if the change orientation box is checked in the settings. I didn't think that feature worked with the stock laucher, though, unless it changed with 2.1 For the backlight on the keyboard you could try settings>sounds & display>brightness>uncheck and re-check the box. It worked with two phones I was having the same issue with.

As of installing 2.1 yesterday, Dolphin Browser no longer fits the page to my screen when I pinch/zoom. I still have auto fit page turned on. So it's basically useless since I zoom in all the time and now the text goes off the screen. I can't even find the stock browser now. Using the regular browser icon brings up dolphin. Before 2.1 I could use either one, dolphin icon for dolphin, browser icon for the stock browser.

That's Dolphin's problem, not 2.1. You have to build the app to the OS, not the other way around. Dolphin will have to make some adjustments.

Anyway the stock browser does pinch and zoom fine now. Other then tabs I don't see a need for Dolphin. YMMV and probably will.

gmail not synching automatically

My Droid was less responsive, touch and otherwise when I updated. But I deleted enough running apps to get things smoother, however I noticed I was not receiving my gmail updates. It would manually refresh but not automatically which was annoying me to no end. I tried every fix I could think of and nothing worked until I deleted the gmail account...which requires a factory reset!!! So...if you end up having the gmail synching issues...have fun setting up your phone all over again....luckily, even after re-installing everything, my phone is running much smoother.

Once I unchecked the Dolphin set as default browser, I can use either one. BUT the stock browser also isn't auto fitting pages after pinch zooming. It only auto fits if I tap the + or - magnification settings. And auto fit is enabled.

If you're trying to access the gallery through a shortcut you had for the old gallery app before updating to 2.1, that's the error message you'll get. Delete that shortcut and create a new one from the new gallery icon in the app drawer.

So I decided to change the number of screen I use with Helix and now I'm in a force close loop. I've tried to get the droid into safe mode but after it vibrates on the droid eye, there is no indication of it being in safe mode. do i hold both the power and menu button(kb) until the droid eye comes up? Or do I hold power and menu together until it starts to power up and keep holding the menu button until the Droid eye comes up and goes away? thanks for the help. this is frustrating as hell since it is my first force close loop incident.

Did I screw up?
I did the 2.1 update without problems. When I was looking at the new programs that were downloaded and saw a file with the word Latin in it. Being the A.D.D person that I am I said "I don't understand Latin so why do I need this file?" So I deleted it. Later when reading various posts I found out that this is not a file for the latin language but was for something else. Did I screw up? Can I do another update to recover the file? Or should I not worry about it?

Thanks for your help.

Somebody else had this problem and had to do a Hard reset.. Did you install HelixLauncher or HelixLauncher2? From what I've been reading HL works fine but HL2 is having nothing but FC..

Google Earth is showing up for some and not for others. Very strange.

I've searched "Earth" "Google" "Google Earth" and it yielded no returns.

I don't want the app but find this rather odd.

Indeed. If there's any other Android experts or Google employees you know, you may want to alert them about this.

i think the manual update is not the right path to go when it comes to this things maybe the updated version was messed up or something, why not reset it to 2.0.1 and wait for the update to pop up and see if you still get the same problems? specially with not being able to find google earth

It's pulled DIRECTLY from "Google's servers"... There is gonna be NO difference from the manual update to the OTA.. It's the same data... lol

This is why they only released it to 1000 phones in the first place..

Then 200k

It's called bugs.. And when you take into account ALL the phones that were previously rooted and then updated the picture becomes clearer..

As for those that didn't root and have problems I'm sure there's an explanation for it..And I'm sure there are thousands of different bugs these non rooted people will be having..

2.1-Update1 says it all for me..

It's like ANY major update on ANY platform or video game.. Release the big one.. Wait.. Release updates.. Apple does this, Microsoft does this, Gaming companies do this.. Google does this..

Add me to the list of people not getting google earth in the market. :icon_eek: I manually updated.

Ok I know some people can't see or find Google earth.

For those who can: How did you get the 2.1 update? Manually or Over the air? If manually, what source did you get it from.

I updated manually from the google source and can't find google earth anywhere. I was non rooted and had no special home apps nor did I ever have google earth. I'm thinking the market isn't recognizing my phone as a 2.1 phone or...and this is just an afterthought, the update is from another country and google earth is not allowed for non US phones? Can anyone verify the 2.1 is a real US update? I can see live wallpapers and download those with no problems, which I couldn't before with the 2.01.

@ Meaker: I had Helix installed. Hard reset? instructions on how to perform since I try to boot to safe mode and it either says safe mode in the lower left corner but when I attempt to unlock my phone, I have the dots on it will restart, write droid, red eye and then no more safe mode. I just did a battery pull and tried safe mode again. now the screen just shows my wallpaper with nothing, please note I have my keyboard open because I tried safemode earlier and the moment I closed my keyboard, it restarted and did not go to safe mode. Please help guys cause I'm at work and not very happy at the moment.
