Hey, Is this thing better than the Charge?

I can't believe u asked this all the charge is a 4G fascinate and might be the ugliest phone I ever seen the screen is washed out and it LAGS and the battery life might be slightly better if not about the same .. my thunderbolt works great no problems but the person leono above had one and had problems with it and ur gonna get that with phones and everything else in life... Get the bolt dinc2 or just wait a little longer I'm not hating on Sammy but if u get that phone u will be kicking yourself till the end of ur contract..

OMG kparks!! I remember you constantly causing a ruckus on the old thread about the Thunderbolt(before it was called that). I take it you actually bought that mis-matched HTC Desire with a 4G radio stuffed into it, along with it's diminutive 1300MaH battery. All I can say is I give you my condolences to you sir. ; )

Anyone actually WANTING to buy a Thunderbolt with all the warnings of terrible battery life, reboots, no netfix or skype, go right ahead. It doesn't hurt me. One of my very best friends had a Thunderbolt for one week and took it back cause he was having to charge it three times a day so it wouldn't die on him. That is just insane. Another good friend of mine got the Charge, it's awesome and running a custom Rom on it already. Battery life is fine. It's a very nice phone. Just trying to help a brother out and hopefully not let the OP make a bad decision. :)

Lol well then ur aware how much I was hating on the bolt before it came out then with all them bs release dates and stats who wouldn't be pissed.. but I got one and love it...and I have used a charge for a whole week cuz I went on vacation and forgot my phone like a idiot and it don't compare in my book..

Good to see on here man, I always looked forward to your insights on that epic thread about the bolt!! lol!!

I'm trading my Thunderbolt for the Droid Charge. I'm a fan of Motorola but wanted to try out 4G. The Thunderbolt is a solid device, Sense is flashy and cool, and overall the phone performed well WHEN it worked. That said, I've experienced poor call quality, muffled speakerphone, multiple force closes everyday, random lag in navigation, pictures disappearing off my SD card, and pathetic battery life.

Coming from the Droid X, I've become accustomed to a phone that SIMPLY WORKS. In a tech environment where people are worried about MB of Ram, processor speed, etc, it's amazing to see how few people care about reception, call quality, and overall stability.

The Droid Charge has better call quality, better battery life, a better screen, and the software platform is much closer to stock Android. It may have a cheaper feel to it, but if it can perform better as a phone, I will be happy with my switch.

If the Bionic happens to be everything the Droid X was but with 4G, then that will be my next phone. Given SIM cards I can switch back and forth with ease.

u must not of had ur DX when they were having all there freezing and rebooting problems LOL..... if thats what u want to do go for it bro i have confidence that this next update will fix everything that ppl are complaining about..

Just gotta ask. If there was no lag....why would there be a voodoo lagfix? All the charges I've used lagged compared to HTC phones. Even the incredible doesn't lag like the charge.

Also battery is manageable after root. I'm getting about 14-16 hrs regular use on gingerbread. Light use I can get a day...what's the charge getting?

+50 lol:icon_ banana:

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. No reboots. Great call quality. Speakerphone sounds great. Battery life is so so but I'm a heavy user so I can't complain. Long live the Thunderbolt!

T-Fleezee's Thunderbolt

I'll go with the TB, I don't even have to pick up the charge to know that its going to be a slow phone, not to mention that that phone will never get gingerbread seeing as there's Samsung written on it, the specs of the TB win just by a little bit though. I think that the dev support for the TB is wayyyy stronger too, and every issue being associated with the thunderbolt can be fixed, I get about a days battery life running Gingeritis v1.1 which also happens to include an imeyoson kernel making it fly faster and it has netflix working perfectly as well as some aspects of sense 3.0, I think most people could agree anyway that HTC Sense has always been the snappiest android skin seeing as HTC won device manufacturer of the year last year and the term lag really could never stick on sense. Just my two cents but go with the TB, root, run a gingerbread ROM but you'll wait and see, VZW and HTC haven't abandoned the TB yet, I think they've been cooking up a little something for stock TB users

Gingeritis v1.1

I'm not into samsung at all for phones. I feel like all they do well is screens.

Htc is number one for androids. The thunderbolt is the best device on verizon right now. Second generation snap dragon and 1.5x more ram, plus more memory.

Not to mention sense just looks and feels better. I hated the look of the home screen on the charge, in every samsung actually always have.

the thunderbolt is far from perfect, believe me this is NOT my ideal phone but it is for sure a better device than the charge. Besides right now, the thunderbolt has more support for roms and hacking.

Idk I think if you're going to root your phone get a thunderbolt.

Ps. My phone has had 3 reboots I got it two days after it launched. No poor phone quality. My battery I will admit is inconstant (for some weird weird android system is killing my battery). I've done a full day on my phone (24 hours) with 30% left with moderate use...gps, 4g etc.

I feel bad for the people experiencing these major problems...I would be angry and hate the device as well if all those things happened to me.

But to say the phone sucks, it's an extreme. Check phone reviews. Great ratings.

As far as I know, P3Droid already released a 2.3.4 Gingerbread build for the Charge. It has custom Roms for it too. Samsung got a bad rap for the slow update of the Fascinate, but they are changing their ways and stepping up. Samsung themselves personally sent the Cyanogenmod devs a Galaxy S II to work on. I think that's pretty cool.

Bottom line, the OP should just go try out both phones at the store for a while and get which one feels better. We can argue the good and bad points of both phones/brands till we're blue in the face. lol

They're trying to make up for mistakes of the past I guess. Isn't motorola doing that by saying they're going to unlock bootloaders...they know that android people like hacking and such, they don't care if we do it they don't lose money.

I think the next generation of samsungs will be great...right now though I'm not impressed with what's out there for verizon. Htc has proven themselves over and over with their phones. Their only problem has been small batteries. thunderbolt has a 1400, when my dx had a 1930.

This is what htc needs to address...design phones in a way that they can fit a larger battery in there.

my phone doesnt reboot.. i dont think the reboot issue is widespread.. im in a 4g city as well.. my battery lasts all day at work, no problems (non rooted)..

you will see issues if your 4g signal is weak and the phone tries to use 3g and then switches back to 4g .. the charge does look nice tho.. i did however go to a VZW store and played with the charge.. and the 4g was cycling..

4g early adopter status = deal with whatever issues it has til its ironed out.

Ugh..here we go with the friends phone nonsense. The tbolt is better than the charge. Samsung updates ...wait...nevermind.

Tbolt is not rebooting on rooted roms to my knowledge. Unless its kernel related. Sounds like what you're interested in. I never get reboots. I have Skype video ...gtalk video and Netflix on my phone right now so not sure what that post was about.

I thought it was pretty obvious what I was talking about. I said they don't have it officially, which they don't. I don't know if the OP was wanting to have to root and install buggy rom's to get these features that were supposed to be officially included and supported to work. I know you and I put in the effort to get them to work, but I think it presumptuous to tell someone that they need to learn all about rooting and loading custom roms to get these things working.

The reboot issue was on 10k phones of 250k sold in the first week. This was stated by HTC when the problem became public. That is less the 5% of Tbolts sold in the first week.
So to the people who are stating in general that the TBOLT is trash.
YOU dont know what your talking about. And this forum is not in the least the place to get the info on all the TBOLT owners issues.
On the other note,
I personally dont like the way the Charge feels. To me it looks like a BB knockoff. Feels real cheap. I dont care for the updates from Samsung but they are still great phones. The only Samsung i think which has my eye is the SGS2. Nuff said.
To add, My bro has the Evo 3D. And all i can say is....damn. It is nice.
Sense 3.0 is sweet and its straight up eye candy.
