Holy Finishing Touches Batman, it's Sapphire 1.0

Up time 23 hours 45 minutes ... battery remaining 80% WOW!!! That was with several phone calls and moderate use of net and using several applications. Wifi on all the time. GPS off. Bluetooth off. No playing audio. Left it on overnight too. ;-)

Thank you Sapphire Team!

p.s. Stability = ROCK SOLID

What kernel/clock are you running for that? I was about to comment on how poor the battery life of Sapphire seemed to be compared to CM6RC2, which always lasted close to 30hrs for me with normal use.

I'm running the default kernel that loaded with 1.0.0 - Set to Min 125 Max 1000 - On Demand - I did uninstall SetCPU - Not sure if that has any bearing, but ...

Just checked my battery and it finally dropped to 70% at 25 hours 3 mins. I've been updating apps, moving some to SD and doing other management things for the last 40 minutes. ;-)

Man, that's some pretty impressive battery life!! Mine has been much better than any other ROM I have run - I am concerned about uninstalling SetCPU as it is a paid app ... will I be able to reinstall it again if need be without paying (again)?

Yes you can. It will show up in Market as 'Purchased' instead of 'Installed'

When this puppy finally gets down to 50% I'll recharge it, reinstall SetCPU and see if the discharge rate changes.

I'd let it run until Android tells you it needs to be plugged in, if you can. I'm curious.

I generally never let my Lithium Polymer batteries get below 50%. They last a LOT longer that way. I wonder if those who are reporting poor battery life have sucked the life out of their LP batteries by running them into to the ground all the time? Hmmmm.

I also run a second battery and alternate between the two. We amateur radio operators are OCD about batteries.

Heard the exact opposite, that you should let them get near to empty before recharging. Battery memory, or am I thinking of NiMH batteries?

Can you point me to a link where you got your info about not running a LiPolymer battery below 50%. I am trying to maximize battery longevity on my laptop and Droid, and I haven't heard the 50 % thing before.

You're thinking NiCad. ;-)

You can read up about Lithium-ion batteries here ... How to prolong lithium-based batteries

See my post above. 50% is my usage based on personal observation.

YMMV. :)

The bottom line is that you can "wear out" Li-Ion batteries chemically by deep discharging them. Here's the salient quote from Battery University ...

"Avoid frequent full discharges because this puts additional strain on the battery. Several partial discharges with frequent recharges are better for lithium-ion than one deep one. Recharging a partially charged lithium-ion does not cause harm because there is no memory. (In this respect, lithium-ion differs from nickel-based batteries.) Short battery life in a laptop is mainly cause by heat rather than charge / discharge patterns."

Would you mind sharing your kernel settings?

My sapphire is KILLING the battery, where as the bb.4 I ran for a month would easily go 2 days.
