Holy Finishing Touches Batman, it's Sapphire 1.0

I removed email and browser without any instability. Is mms the stock messenger client?

Yep, mms is the stock messenger client. But the helpful link below indicates it's probably not a good idea to get rid of it. With the browser removed, are you able to use a third-party web browser? The link below makes it sound like you might not be able to after removing the stock browser.

Barebones - CyanogenMod Wiki

That link will give you a list of what's safe to remove.

Thanks! Very useful.

I had Dolphin HD installed before I removed Browser, so I haven't noticed any issues browsing the web after removing Browser. Not sure what the result would be if you removed Browser and then tried to install another browser through Market.

I will say that the phone definitely feels more fluid with all those apps removed. Its also amusing to watch my stock Droid friends borrow mine briefly when they cannot find any apps. dancedroid
I'll check out the link.

I need help guys. I installed the latest Sapphire rom with a wipe but for some reason, I can't move my apps to my SD card. Did I forget to do something? Also wifi tethering does not work. Thanks in advance. :)
in terminal, go to preferences then set your initial command line so it looks like this

export PATH=/data/local/bin:
$PATH
bash
su

then, go into terminal and type this, minus the quotes "pm setInstallLocation 2" , then enter. nothings going to happen, but you'll be able to move all your apps to the sd card from the manage apps. I've been using this, works like a charm.

Thanks for the tip man. This was driving me nuts.

made the switch and loving it. Very nice rom, runs great and I no longer seem to have the 3G issued I had with UD. I may check UD7 out when it comes out but I love Sapphire with Droid X theme!

edit: FINALLY was able to get Wireless Tether working on this rom. I may not go back to UD, this rom runs so smoothly and is doing everything I want it to!

Where do you get the htc sense widget and dock?

if you use launcher pro go to their forum and to the theming and customization forum and search. its between pages 30 and 50. its just a background for the dock so you have to use invisible icons but with the gestures launcher pro has it works great and looks great

edit: coming from UD one of the things I really liked was having up to 15 applications in your recent applications multitask shortcut. Is it possible to get that on Sapphire and if not will it be implemented down the road?

I looked at the D2 keyboard, you know it has an "Alt lock" and and an "alt" key, plus no "menu" key.

It is the HW differences that will cause issues, but it has been ported. Alt key will act as a toggle, not momentary, same fo caps lock.

camsounds (turns camera shutter/record sounds on or off)

I assume that is a script that I run in terminal emulator?

Also, anyone know if the droid 2 keyboard port works on this rom?
MyDroidWorld - Droid 2 keyboard ported to other devices!

Yes you would run that in terminal. And the d2 keyboard works just fine, I however did not like it much cuz I like swype. The thread over in the hacks section has a link with an update.zip method for the d2 multi touch keyboard and thats what i used.

Installed the ROM yesterday and all I can say is WOW, coming from BB 0.4 and I don't think I'm going anywhere for a while.

As others have said, this ROM is just superbly stable, anyone getting FC's that aren't a documented software issue are likely pushing their hardware too far with their kernel. For example, my phone is stable with the stock 1.0 lv kernal but needs SV to do 1.1. I can also install Chevy's 1.0 ulv but will get force close situations under heavy load unless I downclock it to 900mhz.

For those of you that have had your phone rooted for a long time and now find that you are getting FC's on newer Froyo based roms with a kernal that has always been stable before, you should know that by design Froyo is going to be more demanding on hardware. Because the JIT Dalvik compiler can keep the cpu fed more efficiently (hence the speed increase), the cpu will find itself under a higher load than on 2.1 while doing the same task (even if the task is maxing the phone out on both platforms). At the end of the day, if Sapphire is making FC's with your kernal, then odds are your CPU has never been truly stable with that voltage/speed and your rom just wasn't pressing it hard enough to find it. This is common with PC overclocking and the reason you stress test extensively before declaring stable. I have found that SNESdroid will illustrate instability rather quickly if your kernal isn't up to snuff.

To everyone running the Droid X theme, has there been any progress with the grey text, black button issue?

Thanks,

I still haven't had time to look at the button text stuff yet. Been a busy week. I don't know if this week will be any better time wise for me but I'll see.

I fixed the droid x button issue check the theme thread first post.
