[Home Replacement App] Sweeter Home public Beta is out!!

How do you change the text of the themes? Like the buttons are just text, even though the thumbnail shows icons.

Also, one of the themes has the screens scroll up and down instead of left and right. When you scrolled up it was all the apps on one page. But if you swipe your finger to change back to the home screen it wouldn't flip back unless it was on an unused space. In other words, in the regular app drawer you can swipe anywhere to scroll...not on that. Very crappy.

Also, I got "could not connect, check your internet" when trying to download the Simple Modified theme.

So far I'm not impressed but that could just be a lack of understanding.

@ Matthew:

As far as the icons, you probably need to have those images, that's why on my theme I tried to use little/no images whenever possible.

Regarding switching screens, and not being able to do so when swiping a widget, I agree it would be nice if it worked like stock. Might be a limitation with blocks, not really sure. I left some "unused" real estate for that purpose, as well as most of my screen content is completely hideable by using springboards, so your left with almost all unused space if no springboard is launched.

Once you get the hang of it, you'll be amazed. Try messing around with your own theme after watching some of the tutorial videos, I think that's the best way to get a feel for it.

I played around making one simple theme, learned enough doing that one to be comfortable making my real theme, AKA MotoRage. :D

The problem is, with that particular theme, that you couldn't adjust the one screen. In other words, it automatically stuck every single app icon you had on that one springboard, so you really couldn't leave space if you had max amount of apps.

yah, i see what your saying... the theme dev should've taken that into account, and either left some unused space to switch screens, or had the app tray retractable through a springboard so you could do that... just seems like poor planning from the dev unfortunately.

You could always resize or add that tray to a springboard pretty easily on the theme to remedy that though, as you are able to edit themes you download.

I'm messing around with another theme, trying to tailor it to what I want...see how that works. Not many available through their site.

I think most themes you have to do a search for, I uploaded my first one as a backup before I realized I can export to my SD, but then I couldn't find it online in the themes....

If you see someone reference a theme, try searching for it instead.

I uninstalled the application. It's just not for me. Too much that I like about the standard phone that you miss with the themes...there are some things that I would like to edit and can't, you can't hold press on the home screen with most of them, etc etc.

Is there an app that allows you to turn the app drawer into an icon? That way you could free up three extra icons on the bottom row?

I am getting a TON of FCs today since upgrading to the new beta. Nearly every time I try to edit the theme (SimpleModified) I get major lag and then a FC.

If you're thinking that on the stock homescreen that the app drawer takes up a row that could otherwise be used to hold 4 more icons for a total of 20 per page, you'd be mistaken.

I see what you mean though with respect to long-holding the homescreen to add 'something'. It does allow you to quickly add that particular 'something' (and move it around too), like a widget for example, that SH does not. For me, I'll stick it out to see how cumbersome adding/editing stuff is really going to be on-the-fly. For others, you just can't teach an old dog new tricks I suppose (I'm teasing, lol).

Nah, you're right though...I've gotten used to the Droid, and back when it first came out I had the G1 so ...

There is a ton of functionality in the themes, just not where I want/need it. haha
