How To: Root your Motorola DROID Bionic

That looks good. If you are on .902 I'd suggest eclipse 2.2 as your rom, unless you wanted to check out an ICS beta.

So I'm having problems again. I copied safestrap to my phone and it still won't install.
Same problem as before. The 'Install' button isn't working, but the 'Cancel' button is.

Safestrap allows you to have a "safe" and "unsafe" system. Unsafe being your stock system that you don't mess with and your safe system being where you can play with different roms etc. Both bootstrap and safestrap are excellent, just keep in mind if you install one, you need to make sure that the other is uninstalled. Bootstrap worked great for me for several weeks, I just recently switched to safestrap.

Use what you feel comfortable using, I felt comfortable with bootstrap and just recently thought to try something new. That's when I switched to safestrap.

This was what he said.

I appreciate the feedback. I currently have bootstrap and had backed up my system at each OTA thinking I could "restore" to the old one if need be. But I was told that I cannot go from 902 to 901, visa-versa, or 901 to 893. Is Safestrap a dual boot system?

Thank you again.

Yes, it is a dual boot system. I currently have eclipse 2.2 w/ titanium theme on my unsafe side and am using the latest spearmint gummy ics rom on my safe side.

I am pretty sure that you couldn't have one side .902 and the other side .901 though.

I was thinking of a restore function (similar to a Windows PC) that I thought bootstrap had. I saved several backups through my .893 OTA, 901 leaked, and 902 OTA. I was told that I couldn't restore to the previous system version due to our locked bootloaders. Also back up my system with all apps unfrozen after 902.

Dual boot is cool for trying out different ROMs (New to this yet, so not sure if correct term) like you are doing. Does safestrap also have a backup function like bootstrap? I will have to research and read about the details of both when I have time.

Thank you again, NorthGuard!

Ok.. use to use this forum often for rooting my droid/droid 2 and even a bit for info on the fascinate... I haven't gone through this stuff in some time.. Recently traded my Nexus for a Bionic (i know.. i know.. but trust me I got the better deal after all was said and done as it was not a straight trade).. Any way.. Previous owner of the bionic stated it was "stock" he failed to mention though it appears to be a stock rom the phone itself is still rooted... SO I want to unroot.. (again.. i know I know.. but it's because I will most likely just sell this phone before too long plus he trashed a couple things that I would like back)..

So I went through the steps above for unrooting (which are super simplistic - which got my hopes up!!!) it goes through 2/4 steps.. and on the 3rd it fails.. Here is a screen shot..

Here is my phone info: (as I do not know what the stock builds/basebands etc should be for this device)
System Version:5.9.902.XT875.Verizon.en.US
Model: Droid Bionic
Android Version: 2.3.4
Baseband Version:CDMA_N_04.07.00R LTEDC_U_07.1F.00
Webtop V:QT-1.3.0-108_DBN-24
Kernel V:2.6.35.7-g83f1a47
vwm736@il93lnxdroid43 #1
Build Number:55.1_84_DBN-71
ERI: 5

I apologize if this isn't the right place to post this.. Like I said - been a long while since I've used the forum and even longer (nearly a year) since I've done any modding to my phones!! (Especially a MOTO)

Thanks in advance - hopefully i've provided enough information for someone to point me in the right direction!!!
