[How To] Unlock Bootloader & Root Galaxy Nexus

So don't stone me here but, does anyone know if Samsung or Verizon know if you unlock and root!? I would really like to know as I'd prefer to not have Verizon nullify my warranty less than 24 hours after purchase. Looks like a great and easy way to go about the unlock and root btw. The OGD was a real pita way back when (the first time I did it anyway).

I'm reviewing the steps BL4Z3D247 posted debating if I want to jump into this once I get my phone tonight destroying my warranty and have a question... what is pdanet?

edit: thought of another question... does rooting the phone also void Verizon's assurion assurance as well if your paying for it?

sb did you try the full blown manual method before yours? just curious... real helpful in learning what's going on... I ended up doing it manually, but using the superboot.img from your method b/c the original unsecure boot.img evidently doesn't work on .0.2.

It worked on mine - the trick was this - it never got past the Google logo, BUT I was able to load up ADB and do all of the commands to push su/Superuser.apk, chmod it, and reboot ANYWAY, and I'm rooted now. Now, I used the manual method for this, so that probably gave me more control over the process. But I think a lot of people expected that boot.img to completely boot you - I don't think that was the case for me.

You can relock if you need to take it in.

Got to the end where its rebooting phone, went to boot animation hung there for few min, then i unplugged the usb and it was the same for a few min. Then i removed the batt and powered back on now its looping at the google screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP!

bad link and maybe a video for help??

when i click on the Samsung drivers link, it goes to a bad link/page ??? also, any chance on someone putting up a video of this process? i know it appears easy to most but being new to this process and having a $300 phone i just want some assurance i am doing this correctly....please?

The links to your dropbox aren't working. Someone else posted a link to the superboot but the PDAnet driver isn't accessible via your OP link. Anyone else have a link?

EDIT: Nevermind. Google is our friend.

I thought last night all was well. This morning I went into the Superuser app, and did the check for updates, and it didn't gain root access. I then also tried to run Busybox installer, and it didnt' get root access either.
At what point in the process should I try again, just from the doing root, forward?

i googled and found the pda net driver and it provides link for "samsung phone drivers", is this the same as the samsung driver in the op post that is a dead link? if i download this, should there not be 2 different drivers?
