You have a point, maybe the 4G's will have to wait until after the iPhone's release....... Didn't think of it that way...

Like most of you i have had my eyes on this phone for a while, one question i have is why are there two different qualcomm processors listed on HTC's thunderbolt page on their website?
"Chipset: Qualcomm® MSM8655, 1GHz, Qualcomm MDM9600"
If im mistaken then correct me because many of the hands on videos i have been seeing of verizon representatives showing off the phone say its dual core and than many of them say its a newer 1ghz snapdragon processor which i am not denying.
Also although the bionic is dual core and the thundbolt is not, is it really that much of a difference to deter you from the thunderbolt? From my experience my motorola phones tend to crap out on me pretty quickly and yes i do take good care of my cell phone. Yet everyone around me with an HTC phone loves their products qualities. Also the thunderbolt has more ram than the bionic so shouldnt that help to boost its speeds a little bit where it is lacking from not being dual core?

This is my first time commenting on this site so try not to rip apart my questions too bad :).

I also considered the Bionic. But than I got to thinking about it. I have had the HTC Droid Eris since January of 2010. Besides having to have it replaced just a couple weeks ago because of a trackball issue, it really hasn't given me any problems at all and in all respects is a good little phone. So, naturally now Im looking at the Thunderbolt. I don't think either phone will disappoint, but I have just heard all around better things from people as far HTC goes compared to Motorola.

I also read the following from another blog I frequently visit and it really made me reconsider from the Bionic to wanting a Thunderbolt.

"When you pick a device to purchase which do you want bells and whistles or do you wasn't functionality?

If you look at both manufacturers history regarding their device skins, who had a standing record with adding features that are functional and easily used and who doesn't? Sense had always been on top when it comes to including useful and nice looking new features and extending the features built into android. Motorola had a tendency to try to make things look nice but they don't incorporate it into the OS smoothly. 2 cores are great but if that's the only thing that makes the hardware and software run fluently, is it really much of a bonus? Games will run better but is all that power really needed? If HTC devices have been running with ease with a single core processor and it seems like motorola has been making their device "get by" with the same power processor (i know the processor manufacturer create processors differently), will dual cores add that much to a an alright customized UI running on android? Or will a better quality 1 ghz processor powering a UI that has been maintaining its reputation in speed and performance be able to keep up with the best of them? I'm basing this whole argument solely on each manufacturer's track record.

I am not in anyway an HTC fanboy because original Droid is still my favorite device hands down. Its just that motorola seems to be forgetting why that device sold so well. Marketing was part of the reason but it was also because that device read built like a tank and was a power house in its day with a great operating system. Here is a car analogy (since somebody already used one). Would you prefer a car with all of these extra performance features and hardware that are not fully functional and are not currently designed to work in harmony with each other (ex. Mitsubishi Lancer EVO) or do you want car where the manufacturer created it with the intent to make sure that everything works together with optimum precision and efficiency (bmw M3)? Which one of those two cars has a higher tendency to have issues? Not the M3."

Hope I have helped in some way(since this is only my second post, I just joined earlier tonight).

The link below refers to the MDM9600 as an LTE Modem that supports Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network. I assumed this was to support the T-bolts moblie hot spot features, but truly I'm not exactly sure what this means.

While the dual core processors are cool, I don't really think they will make a big difference till we see phones running honeycomb, which is two versions out. I love HTC phones and to me the TB over the bionic is a no brainer, more ram, 32GB sd included, htcsense.com & dlna make this the droid I've been looking for. :P

Can the DLNA feature of the T-bolt do everything that the HDMI out with mirroring feature of the Bionic can, or an I comparing apples to oranges?

Like i said before my post was deleted.. i already know the 4g price structure layout and u will need to pay for 4g....

You know I was leaning towards the Bionic after CES, but since then, watching videos of both phones, and talking to people who know tech, I am thinking about going with the Thunderbolt. The Bionic looks great on paper, but I feel they have a ways to go before they really get the technology right for it to fully take advantage of the dual-core's abilities...I think I will wait till next year to see how it's evolving and turning out. The Thunderbolt is plenty fast enough for what I need it to do, a 1900 stock in the quadrant is no slouch, overclocked it should do even better. Plus I feel the 512MB of RAM in the bionic is not enough. I will wait it out for a dual-core when it gets 1Ghz of RAM, but I refuse to go on AT&T just to get the Atrix. I like Verizon and I am a patient guy, so I think HTC it will be...plus I love how my friends EVO feels and performs, having a better version of it is fine for me. :)

That's what I'm hoping for man!! No way I can wait till November though, I think the Thunderbolt will be good to have till March of 2012....then at that time I'll grab the next version of the Thunderbolt...maybe it'll finally be called the "Incredible HD" by then...lol
