HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

Because that's not how Apple works. Every thing points to Verizon clearing the way for the iPhone release. Plus Verizon hardly ever launches more than one smartphone at a time. They'll wait at LEAST wait 14 days in between each release so people can't bring those phones back. If I'm wrong I'll be the first to admit it, but logically it makes no sense for them to do that. Blackmanx even gave a hint about release dates. Sometime in March for Thunderbolt and sometime after Passover for Bionic. I hope I'm wrong about everything not being released by March but I don't think I am. Guess we'll see.

Either end of February or sometime in march seems logical. I'm not expecting to come out in January or something like that. It sucks though because i have my upgrade now. Who is Blackmanx btw?

Really dependable insider. He tests the phones before they come out and usually knows the release dates.

I think that that one guy was right about the unleashing the tb after the iphone comes out and is cluttering up the network thing lol, can anyone wait to unbox this beast! btw some phones come with headphones ya? anyone think that this one will too?

This was in another thread.
So, Black_Man_X recently posted this "sneaky panda tweet/poem" in response to an inquiry to the T-Bolt's release date:

"when the color green is all you see
and they speak of pots of gold,
perhaps in the lingering cold
you may yet, hear the thunder roll,
for despite the clamor and Jobs much hyped antenna ..
there are other treasures to behold.
For if you wait but a scant
till after the passover event
you may find dual core gold…"

He goes on to clarify that he's is referencing 2 devices. So, are we looking sometime around St. Patrick's day for the T-Bolt and late April for the Bionic?

I realize those who are testing phones for Verizon may indeed have more info that most, you cannot say they are 100% all of the time. Verizon release dates have come and gone before, just like the November 23rd date did and many others after that.

I hope he is wrong so we get it sooner rather than later, but I am resigned to the fact that Verizon screwed the pooch on this one.

So i was talking to my friend earlier and he explained to me that when companies refer to quarters, its not the calendar year, its the fiscal year. Verizon's fiscal year ends at the end of september and begins in october. So Q1 ends in december and Q2 ends in march but begins in january. So the phone could come out either january february or march

Verizon doesn't refer to fiscal quarters when talking about release dates. Otherwise they wouldn't have said at CES that these new 4G phones will be coming out Q2, with some possibly as early as March--not if March was the end of the second quarter.

I didn't say always accurate, just usually. Plus most times, testers usually are too early on release dates, not too late. I think Verizon is more worried about getting the iPhone out than these Android phones.

Yes, Verizon is definitely clearing the way for the pending iPhone release, they don't want sales of any other phones to cut into its success on their network yet, and I'm sure this was part of the deal made with Apple during negotiations. Don't expect any Android phone releases until at least 3-5 weeks after the VZW iPhone releases on 2/10.

Also, when companies talk about Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 for internal purposes (ie. for accounting/bookkeeping purposes, or talking about profits/losses) they are using the "fiscal" year (which starts Oct 1, typically). However, I think in this case they are using the "calendar" year (which starts Jan 1, of course). When Verizon made the announcement that "4G LTE phones will begin releasing sometime in Q2 (with some possibly as early as March)", this means Q2 refers sometime between April 1-June 30. Likewise, "in 1H of 2011" would mean before July 31.

whether i like it or not the next phone to be released on verizon is the iphone. for all we know verizon could have a contract with apple saying that the iphone will be their only focus during february so they can start off the new year with people renewing their contracts and people getting new contracts after leaving att. after february it's an entire different game... after february verizon will be back to pushing android like they have been in 2010.

i think the thunderbolt will be out in march since that was the month mentioned at ces for 4g phones. i probably got my last 3g phone in december and until i know what 4g pricing will be i'm holding onto my incredible. i would be shocked to see 4g phones in stores at the end of this month or anytime next month. i wouldn't object to that, i would actually rush to a store to see the phones in person, but i really don't see it happening. stupid iphone.

there's a chance (not a big chance but still a chance) that verizon will keep the unlimited option for data and that the thunderbolt will operate on the 3g network until a sim card is inserted. i would like to see verizon keep unlimited data an option until the entire country is able to have 4g coverage. after 4g coverage has been established introduce whatever plans they have for 4g pricing when a customer upgrades or signs up for a contract with verizon. as for the sim card theory... that would be fantastic because if you are in an area that doesn't have 4g you can still get the phone you want but use it on the 3g network... best of both worlds. yeah doing that will limit what the phone can do (video chat is done on 4g without wifi and 3g requires wifi) but if 4g isn't in your area nothing gets changed... you just have a cheaper bill each month. if you travel frequently and are traveling to an area that has 4g you just insert the sim card and use 4g speeds then get billed a little extra that month for as long as the card is inserted.

we unfortunately won't know anything regarding 4g prices until 4g phones get closer to being released... and that's not for a while :(

Verizon rents out Comerica Theater for "meeting"

OK, so...Verizon wireless rented out Comerica Theather (formerly Dodge Theater) for a staff meeting here in Arizona.
Let me tell you guys, I've seen Megadeth and Children of Bodem at this theater and this place is FRIGGIN HUGE! Not to mention Ozzy will be playing there soon.
Why would they need to rent a place of this size for a meeting? And why not just have meetings at the stores?
What are they wanting to talk to the AZ Verizon employee's about?
I swear, I'm about to punch my friend in the face (LOL he works for verizon) for telling me this and getting my hopes up. He refuses to tell me anything but says it's gonna be big.
ERRRR!!!! I'll keep you guys updated on what I can get out of my friend.

I haven't read all 18 pages of this thread (way too big a headache to do that and I'm pregnant so I try not to take meds if I can help it!), but has anyone seen this? 4G LTE Network | Verizon Wireless It doesn't give any clues as to when it'll be available, just says "Coming Soon," so I'm not sure it's helpful in any way. Also, I think BlackManX's St Patrick's Day clues would make sense - it would be past the 30 day return period for initial adopters of the iPhone; that way none of those folks can return their 3G device for a 4G device once it's released. Just my $.02. :) In any case, I'll be waiting impatiently - some #$%&@ walked right into my office and stole my Samsung Fascinate off my desk last week, and now I'm rocking a Moto Citrus I got off of Craigslist for $70 (which admittedly is better than the Moto Krzr and BB Curve 3G I used until I found a cheap Android device!).
