just spoke to my local big red store. She was looking at an email while on the phone with me that did not have any pricing information, but i did have a $100 rebate, and "it requires a data plan of $29.99 or higher." She did confirm that the 17th is firm for release tho.

I just called 5 VZW stores in a 20 mile radius and not 1 would give my any info on a release date.

So is this phone going to have Skype video calling or not?? Has there been a conclusion.

Everything I have seen says yes it will, including videos of VZW reps showing demo units. However, there was one article that suggested Skype was the reason for the delay (battery hog), and that VZW was pounding on HTC's door, so HTC could pound on Skypes door to get this fixed. Then there was the curious situation of the demo videos VZW published not mentioning Skype at all.

TL;DR: Anybody's guess.

So when is the expected release date for the Motorola Bionic? At this point I'm wondering whether it's worth the wait and all this posturing may lead the Incredible to become the Blackberry Storm I revisited.... have to expect something with a significantly underpowered battery...

I will probably end up regretting this... Ill retract my bet for 1 million spacebucks this thursday, there is simply too much evidence pointing to that day as launch. Even bennnnn is saying that the data plan is going to stay the same:

"Well, looks like we'll be getting an unlimited plan after all." This, over on AC forums. I hope both of these end up becoming true!!!
