I called the local verizon store.. they don't even have any of them yet. Rep said that maybe tonight or tomorrow morning...When I asked about pricing he didn't have any information on that either. Looking more like I'm ordering online!

Update on VZW Retail pricing info:

Just called corporate - They said it appears there will be a $50 MIR on the retail store phone sales, but were unable to confirm whether the $249.99 was before or after that MIR is applied, so according to that CSR, you're looking at either

(1) 299.99 retail + $50MIR = $249.99 + $35 activation fee + Tax
(2) 249.99 retail + $50MIR = $199.99 + $35 activation fee + Tax

Either way wirefly avoides both the activation fee (creditied back on 3rd month) and taxes (if you are not in VA).

Just as an FYI to anyone purchasing from WireFly, the below is from another thread concerning the SIM card and Verizon's free tethering till may 15th:

Wirefly - If you are still monitoring this thread, I do have two questions. I've also submitted these via your email service.

(1) Will the SIM card required on the HTC ThunderBolt be included with the package shipped by WireFly, or do I need to obtain this from a retail VZW location?

(2) VZW is making tethering free to customers who upgrade to the HTC Thunderbolt until May 15th 2011. After this date, to retain tethering VZW customers must pay for the 2GB @ $20/month package they offer. I am not interesting in the tethering service, and did not elect to purchase it. My concern is, if VZW makes this an 'opt-out' process, meaning I need to explictly tell VZW I don't want it, will this be interpreted as a plan change that leads to ETF or other similar fees? I would of course contest this (and don't expect it to be a problem), but if there are any possible concerns I would like to begin the dialog immediately rather than after it is an issue.

Thanks!

Yes we are still monitoring this thread. :) Here are the answers - let me know if there is anything else that I can answer for you.

1) The SIM card will be shipped with the phone, so you will not need to go get one from a retail VZW store.

2) The free wifi tethering will be an opt-out option, and if you choose to opt-out you will not be assessed any ETF's and the carrier will not report this as a deactivation to us.

Thank you very much for the clear and complete response, I couldn't have hoped for anything more. This is my first experience with WireFly, and so far I am quite impressed.

Just played with the TB at Best Buy, and to say that it's lightening fast may be an understatement.

I guess I'm going to Best Buy when I head out for lunch. Are they selling accessories yet? I want to pick up a car dock so I have it when I pick up the TB at Verizon tomorrow.

Supposedly Verizon recently did away with MIR on high end phones. Anybody know what happened to that?

Since I can't edit--I just saw the pic of the MIR and saw that the TBolt wasn't on there...so that's pretty much in line with what should have been expected.

Based on nothing other than past experience, I'd say $249.99 for 2 year and $319.99 for 1 year.

Since when do you get charged activation fees? I've never paid one
