I finally broke down

Couldn't take it anymore. Waiting til the 30th for my shipment was just getting to be too much. Not to mention it took me almost 10 minutes to place a call on my og Droid because of constant force closes (yes I tried the thread in the bb forums).

It didn't cost me the full 300 but it still hurt. Regardless I am simply blown away by this handset so fat. I'm sure I'll be bickering about battery life in a week or so though.

Take care all.

Enjoy your new Gnex... have fun... I to came from a D1... I run the extended battery and have no complaints battery life... all depends what you run and your usage.

my D1 was in the same condition as yours...at least 4 battery pulls a day and insanely show....it was an amazing device for 2 years...but then its time had come...I went for the Razr instead of the nexus...so the question is...what to do with the og Droid...?

Same boat for me. Mine is a dedicated alarm clock. Not to shabby.

I was actually thinking of doing the same thing to mine. I might use it as a music player and replace my zune hd. Choices, choices.

I'm surprised at how bad some peoples OGs have been behaving. I'm still rocking the OG on Droid Concepts and it has been really really stable. Haven't done a battery pull in ages and it is surprisingly smooth. I have streamlined the number of apps on my phone to a minimum to prevent random background processes from kicking in and to have more memory free.

Have it running at 800MHz with custom SetCpu profiles and I still get over a day of battery use with my 2 year old battery (light use).

I still love the phone, although every now and then it will annoy me and make me wait 10-15 seconds when trying to use Maps while other stuff is happening in the background. I'm going to be extremely happy and sad, all at the same time, when I upgrade from the OG to another phone.

I got the nexus, dropped the battery in and started it up (without reading the directions, of course). SIM card missing. Oh right, of course.
Turn off, insert sim card, power back up, try to activate. Activation failed. Try again. Failed. Ok, I'll read the directions...

Directions say "call this number to activate your 4G SIM card". Craaaaaaap, I need to call a phone number?? With my other phone??

It only took 4 tries to get my OG Droid to dial the number without the dialer getting kicked out of memory. I thought it was just trying to get a few final jabs in at me once it figured out it was being replaced!
