anyone else get a refurb d1 with the screens that feel like they're so loose they're gonna fall off???

That's what my last d1 refurb felt like. Actually it was the base of the phone that was bent! I couldn't believe it when I finally decided to compare my droid with my wife's. How can they say they are certified like new replacements? Every one of the 3 that I got progressively got worse as they came.

I was one of the lucky ones that opened the most recent box to find a brand new droid 2 in there this past monday. dancedroid

Just to add, I sent an email to Verizon after I also got a D2 as a D1 replacement. I stated that I was expecting a D1 and I have the Car Mount but not I can't use it b/c of the extended "lip" of the D2. And I asked if I was going to be forced to purchase another docl, when it was Verizon who decided to change my phone. Within a few hours I got a call from a verizon rep telling me that they would send me out a replacement mount to accommodate the switched D1 to D2.
Try it out you may get lucky!!!
i posted this before. did the same thing. the new dock is bulkier, comes with an audio cable and allows for the power to remain plugged into the dock (although it still doesn't come with a power cable), and is even compatible with the D1.

i have my D1 car dock twisted in a special way for taking video, so the arm is out of view, and i was able to pop off the D1's housing and pop on the D2's housing on to the same arm!

i'm returning these 2, the screens aren't just a little loose , they feel like they're going to fall off. I mean who is actually refurbishing these phones?

I thought I deserved an early upgrade to a D2 :( since I've been a good christian and all, well I guess not good enough. But over $500 for a D2 full retail? I'll just wait for the next big thang when I'm ready to upgrade a year and a half from now dancedroid

I didn't realize they were ranking their upgrades on religious preferences...

There is a universal process which determines who is gonna get brand new D2 for free based on how much good they've done in this world, generally speaking. There's no such thing as luck. You don't even have to believe in God.

On Wednesday morning I spoke to Verizon regarding issues with my phone.

The technician determined the phone was defective and said I would receive a warranty replacement.

I was told Droid 1 phones were on back order but expected in 48 hours. I was told the phone would ship on Friday and not be received until next week due to the holiday weekend.

An hour later I received an email that the phone had shipped.

This morning I received a refurb Droid 1.

I had received a refurb around a month ago and it came packaged in a little white box.

The phone I received today was wrapped in plastic and attached to a flat piece of cardboard.

My previous refurb looked brand new and the new one looks like it has been used and is a little beat up.

I am considering just dealing with the faulty headphone jack on my old phone instead of trying out this new refurb.

I installed UD8 yesterday and my current phone runs fast and cool.

The phone was shipped from Texas and the package weighed 1 pound.

I got the same thing , phone taped to a piece of cardboard. I'm going to call them and send these back. We'll see what they do for the next one they send me.

That's what this one I just got came like. The next one will too. I'll be sending it back also.

Just got off the phone with Verizon , they said they were sending me out new replacements, not sure if they meant new refurbished or new. I'll know on Wednesday.

generally speaking, clnr are not refurbished devices. a clnr is a certified like new replacement. it's not new because it is not in a box. the cost of a device is cut dramatically when you don't need packaging, marketing, manuals, batteries, $35 memory cards. the raw cost is estimated $130 usd. its much more affordable for verizon to use these as replacements than new in box units.

Patently false, and just silly. Verizon has a one sentence description of these phones on their website and it explicitly states they're refurbished.

"Certified Like-New Replacement devices have been thoroughly inspected and reconditioned to like-new condition. "

If they were never used and never had problems and existed only because tiny cardboard boxes and battery covers are soooo expensive, why would they need to be "reconditioned"? Why would they keep sending me droids with loose sliders and flat keyboards? They *just* got this batch of unused, pristine "new", but just not in packaging, droids this week, and they have flat keyboards and loose screens?

boogerdoodles.

the total cost to motorola including manufacturing, and delivering the phone is $188, boxed and accesorized.
clnr are generally new, received in bulk from motorola. the only phones that are reconditioned have "double stickers" under the battery, and usually lack the plastic backing to the slider mechanism.
the phones before clnr came into effect, "fru" units were slopped together like frankenphones.

Oh no, verizon already told me to send them back. And they're sending me 2 new ones, although i'm not sure if they're new or refurbished, but i'll find out on wednesday.
