Got a refurb D1 from my claim on 9/1. The sticker on the inside of the battery compartment says 8/30/2010 and the serial date is 35/10 (week 35 of 2010) meaning they probably just got a whole shipment of D1's in at the end of August and won't be giving out any D2's anytime soon.

Sounds to me like you were expecting them to send you a Droid 2..What would you care since, according to you, you're not entitled to anything but another Droid 1?
Seems like you might be contradicting yourself, bud.

Just called to have my Droid replaced for a power button issue and the rep offered to replace the phone with a Devour or Eris, I kindly said another Droid1 would be fine unless she could replace it with a D2, DI, or DX, which she kindly denied me.

I am fine with another D1 as long as it works, would be cool if something else showed up though :P

Yes I was hoping to get a Droid 2. I had small annoyances with my phone that I didn't care to have replaced with a refurb, but upon hearing I might get a D2, I figured I'd give it a try. The difference is that I'm not complaining or saying that I was screwed because I didn't get one. Everyone thinks they deserve a D2 now, just because some people got lucky.

Pathetic ...

90% of you are suddenly getting "issues" with your phone that you need to suddenly call up Verizon and request a new phone. Then you wont stop bothering Verizon with your "issues" until you get a new D2 just because some dork got lucky and might have gotten a D2.

You are wasting Verizon's money and time. That means you are increasing the cost of Verizon holding Android phones, that doesnt look good for the future of Android. Not only that but where do you think that money comes from for the increased costs? You think Verizon is going to cut back on its salaries for it's employees? No, it is going to come at increased fees.

For the 1% of you that are having legit issues, I feel sorry for you. But for the other 99% of you who have these new issues starting less than a month ago(about when the D2 came out) you are pathetic and I hope you get sent a new Droid Eris.

Small annoyances aren't a big deal.
Problems like mine, however, where the capacitive keys light up on their own and drain my battery aren't either, right?
When you take a phone back 3 or more times, you ARE entitled to a new phone. You only have to pay the difference, which in this case, is 0.

Pathetic ...

you are pathetic and I hope you get sent a new Droid Eris.

And I hope your Droid explodes in your damn hands.

So let me get this straight it is ok for verizon and their insurance company to give people an eris or some other lesser grade phone or better yet place people on a wait list for a droid one when that is not the agreed upon deal with the insurance. I pay over 7 or 8 dollars a month for insurance since god knows when. If my phone has some sort of problem any problem I should be allowed to use that insurance and get a comparable phone and an eris is not even close and you know. So in your eyes by what you are saying it is not ok for those making up issues which really is not cool, but it is ok for verizon or their insurance to give crap for phone replacements. Really have you seen the number of actual problems verizon has caused pawning off their crap refurbished phones.

I just paid 90 dollars for a droid 2 because mine was a actual drop in the crapper so excuse me if I shed no tears for verizon I paid almost half the price for a new one and all the money that I have paid them over the years in insurance I think they still came out way ahead and I am sure they will not fold up business. It works both ways about treating like you would want to be treated.

I am with you on this.
From what I have gathered from all this. We have 4 groups of people
1. People who have gone through X amount of refurbished and seem due a free upgrade to the Droid 2
2. People who have gone through X amount and still keep getting problematic reburbished "like new" devices
3. People who just wanted a working Droid and surprised by free upgrade *I fall in here, but still wish I got a working Droid 1, but starting to really like this come one week*
4. People who think they are entitled to a free upgrade after one bad phone, small issue, made up issue.

but as soon these post came up 1 week ago, everyones phone is now faulty? Which makes the process longer for everyone, they have to be stricter on upgrades and replacements. THE ORIGINAL DROID is a great phone still, Droid 2 is newer yes, but just a refresh little more ummph for people who dont root. Just because something is new doesnt mean you need to cheat to get it.

i Just got an email that says how to setup you certified like new A855. Oh well, I hope I at least get a new battery. The batter performance is unacceptable.

Replacement come without battery, door, or SD card. You keep those and said the old phone back without them.

I got a back, phone, sd, cord, everythingg...... Mine was not refurbed..... so not evertime. I got a 2 instead of 1 and my coworkers (who have droids) and g/f are uber jealous. lol
