I got a software update!

Switching back from Matt's .215 upgrade to .211 and then to the new OTA will be a big hassle for me, based on past experience. What would be the downside of just sticking with what I have now and forgetting about the official JB, as I am quite happy with the phone as it is?

How is 215?, much difference from 211?

How do I get the download from my computer to the SD card on my Rzr?

You will have to plug your phone into the computer using the USB cord supplied with the phone..its the phone charger cord. Move the file by dragging it into your SD card..it has to be your external SD and don't put it in any folder.

Just re-rooted with Dan Rosenburg's RAZR Blade exploit. Couldn't have been easier. So updated and rooted before Motorola even pushes the JB OTA to the masses. The web is a wonderful thing.

So, first you rooted, then waited for MOTO official JB push?
Did you receive the official Motorola OTA? Or did u use forum leak?

I Received the official JB OTA yesterday and I would like to ROOT but I am totally confused as to what to do? I suppose I should follow RAZR Blade exploit??

I downloaded the OTA JB update that's floating around for the past two days (the soak test version just out, not the Christmas leak) before it was pushed to my phone. Didn't want to wait -- could be a day, could be several more, who knows. So once I updated to 4.1.2 (98.72.16) I rooted via the RAZR Blade exploit. Literally could not be easier.

Redsk95 and Rherron,

So, then I should be OK to root using Blade with my officially pushed MOTO JB release 98.72.16 , Correct?
My brain feels fried. I need a break. So exhausted of reading and typing. My eyes are bleeding!

Yes, you can root via RAZR Blade with the official OTA JB update. We have the same version. You just got your over-the-air, I downloaded it from the internet.

Thanks. Did u have any issue with Smarticons? Seems as if a few folks ran into probs?

Smart Actions?

I had no problems rooting. Double-clicked the "run" file after unzipping the RAZR Blade DL and followed the on-screen instructions. You have to activate the battery saver Smart Action and then hit a key on the keyboard to reboot the device again to get root. This is all explained in the simple on-screen instructions. Is this what you're referring to? I only use one Smart Action, quiet at night, and it's still there.
