ICS Battery life

I AM GONNA TRY THAT..[display off+ turn off bkgd sync].right now...thx

Another one to add to background sync is cell data, you will still get phone calls and text message just not MMS until you turn the screen on.

  • 4g, especially if you do not have a strong signal because it struggles to keep the signal or may have to keep searching for a signal. Same with wifi. If you are not where you can connect to wifi, it will keep searching and try to connect to a wifi signal. Turn off data and/or wifi when you are not using it.
  • Background data sync. Causes your phone to keep syncing at various times... who knows how often. Turn off background data sync and manually sync your data a few times a day. You can put a toggle widget on your homescreen to make this convenient.
  • Email that is set to collect your incoming mail automatically or frequently (every 15 minutes) will burn a lot of battery because your phone is constantly polling for mail. Set your email accounts to collect your mail every hour or less. You can even set your email to collect mail manually... where when you open that account, it collects your new mail then. These settings will depend on your needs.
  • And the infamous display. It uses most of your battery by design. Having it set at 100% will use tons. Set it at auto or even 30% and when you need it at 100% (outside) you can adjust it. Again, you can place a toggle switch on your homescreen to make this more convenient.
Hope this helps getting you better battery life.

I never turn on Wifi due to my Verizon DSL being so much slower than my 4G. I also attached a SS of the 4G signal strength, it is very stable but I do not know how strong it is?

I will turn off the background sync and see how much that helps!

I have two email accounts set up plus the gmail account, all of them using the factory email app. I haven't found a sync setting for the factory email app yet. I use to use K-9 Mail and had it set to check for email once an hour. I will search the factory app again and if I can't find a fetching setting, I'll start using K-9 again.

I keep the display on Auto all the time, and have the battery saver button checked in the display settings.

Thanks so much for your help.

94lt1 I will set smart actions to turn off cell data and background data when screen is off.

Thanks for the help everyone.

BTW down to 30% @ six hours.

So I got a replacement Razr from VZW (on Wednesday) and had the same battery life issues. I called them this morning and let them know that I was having the same issues and asked if there was going to be another update to fix these issues. They checked and came up with nothing (shocker). I was all set to give up and then the rep suggested having the Razr replaced with a MAXX. When I asked how much was this going to be, she advised there would be no charge. I almost couldn't contain my excitement (until after I hung up). Razr being replaced with a MAXX for FREE!!!!!

Sometimes it is just getting the right person at the right time that makes the difference.

:-)

Since ICS update, my battery life has been outstanding compared to GB.

I did a FDR before and after the ICS download. Reinstalled all my apps myself. Charged (power off) to 100%, drained to 10%, and charged (power off) again to 100% (Thanks, FoxKat!).

With light use (calls, texts, and a few app updates), I am currently at 3 days and 30% left.

Now, I can finally realize why the Maxx is Maxx.

You have to love battery life like this... Screenshot_2012-07-25-10-22-10.webp

How do you get your screen to use such little time? I wake up and surf the net (on a full charge) for a half an hour and I'm instantly down to 90% with the screen using 86%. I suppose i could get that good of battery life if i just let my phone sit there and did nothing with it.
