Incredible 2 Battery Life?

EnV touch was a great phone. and since I'm afraid to leave this one on over night it has become my alarm clock for good. it's also a spare camera/mp3 player/notepad. that's the things about phones now. I was gonna sell it to some website for $30, but then I realized it still has some uses.

but this is an incredible thread, so let me ask this. ive been getting updates for my apps almost daily. do you guys download them everytime they are available or let them sit a while? also, my verizon widget refuses to update, i cant access it anymore

The ENV touch was crap. in the year i had it, it went through 4 phones, before i quit calling customer service to complain about something else that was messing up. I'm glad I finally upgraded to the DIN2, but like others here, i'm not used to the awful battery life, i guess that's something i need to get used to with a smart phone. The suggestions on here are great, i just hope they work.
These are my stats so far today:

Battery Level- 50%
Usage:
Display - 76%
android system - 7%
cell standby - 4%
phone idle - 3%
com.htc.launcher - 2%
dialer - 2%
com.android.mms - 2%
android live wallpapers - 2%
android os - 2%

I'm not even sure what some of these are?

says i've been uplugged for 1h 27m, but that's not even close. I unplugged it last night around 11:00, so 15h, but i didn't start using it again until 10 am.

Is that display usage normal? Is it because i don't have much else running? I have sent about 75 texts so far today, and been on facebook a little, not a whole lot. It's really annoying having to charge it every night.

You are going to have to charge ANY smart phone every night. With the exception of the Blackberry. That's just the name of the game.

By the way, turn down the brightness on your screen and turn off the live wallpapers. They're killing your battery.

ive got the brightness to like 30%. too bright and it gives me a headache anyway.

Good, that'll help. Turn off the live wallpaper and that will also help.

I've also been playing with an app called Juice Defender and I must say it seems to be helping. Might want to try the free version. See if that might help some more.

But no matter what, you will have charges every night. No way around that one.

bummer. i like the wallpaper. I'm going to see how long i can hold out before i change it. I'm a kid at heart and like my phone to look fun. what can i say. ;-)

I've just started to figure out Tasker... today I wrote one that turns on the syncing for 4 minutes every hour. This seems to have had made a noticeable improvement in battery life.

I also have it turn the brightness down to 30% most of the time. Tasker is pretty cool because you can have it check settings regularly and turn off the battery killers on a regular basis.

Tasker really ought to be included in every purchase, but it has a steep learning curve and it's easy to make your device do annoying things if you misprogram it.

Oh I agree. I have a beach live wallpaper I use periodically and really like it. I just know I need to watch the battery closer while it's running.

I've still got to look at this one. I've heard nothing but good about it but have also heard exactly what you're saying about the learning curve. Something I really need to look at anyway for the experience.

i played angry birds for about a half hour laying in the bed the other night and it drained about 35% of my battery. that's normal right?

It is worth the money... over the price of the device it's peanuts, and it gives you so much automation. You can have different settings for different apps... Different settings based on whether it's plugged in or not. It's not that hard, but there are some quirks; mostly caused by finding instructions for profiles that must be written for older versions or something... that was the main source of my confusion at first. There were some profiles I found described that I wanted to use, but when I followed the instructions it didn't match.

Your best bet is to write simple ones, and then dig deeper as you get used to it.

I did figure out the basics without instructions, so it's not that bad.

What kind of talk time are you guys getting?

Also, when you are on wifi but mobile network (3G) is on and you make a call, is the call over the 3G network? That would make sense such that turning off 3G and using the 1x network would enhance talk time.

Every hour of talk time seems to be draining my battery by about 25%. I even changed the Global mode to CDMA, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.
