Incredible 2 Battery Life?

I don't know if this is a fluke, but my battery life has been one half of what it was before I updated to Gingerbread yesterday. I have had the phone on for the past 5 hours and I am already down to 50% from 15 minutes of voice and the display being on for 1 hour for texting/browsing/Pandora. Typically, I would be at around 75% from this kind of usage. I will have to further test this. Is there a way to go back to Froyo if I can confirm this?

What kind of talk time are you guys getting?

Also, when you are on wifi but mobile network (3G) is on and you make a call, is the call over the 3G network? That would make sense such that turning off 3G and using the 1x network would enhance talk time.

Every hour of talk time seems to be draining my battery by about 25%. I even changed the Global mode to CDMA, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

That's roughly the same for me w/ CDMA. It should be closer to 6 hours or so total talk time, right? Maybe those specs don't account for signal drain and other factors.

CNET claimed 6.25 hours of continuous talk time in their tests, but it's CNET...so that's probably not a reliable piece of info.

did the update just reset some settings you had changed to preserve battery life? i dont think my battery has gotten worse, but i havent gone back and checked all my settings

I have mine set for CMDA only, Tasker turns sync on every half hour for 2 minutes, and App Killer set for aggressive kills apps whenever the screen turns off except for a few. My battery life is down to 70% after 5 hours, some decent surfing, and a couple of phone calls.

My boy's got 2 days on 1st charge.. that was running ota update and me playing around off and on. Basically sat idle for 36hrs..

posted tomorrow using the space time continuum app on my D1...

Please help-- battery worst I've ever seen

I just bought the Inc 2 yesterday, and I did a full charge. Well, today I only got 4 hours til the battery drained and died (shut off my phone). In that 4 hours, I had only used it maybe for 5 minutes to respond to a text message and an email. I have wifi, bluetooth, and gps turned off. I have killed my apps (but not with those pesky app killer programs that drain the battery). My brightness is on the lowest setting. I took it to verizon today to prove to them that I had changed all my settings correctly, and they agreed. They said that it must be a bad battery and gave me a new one. I went home, did a full charge before using, and used it for two hours (email and texts only), and it is dead again. I really don't think it should be dying after 2 hours. Do you think I got a bad phone? I have taken most of the suggestions I've read about in this forum. Anyone else have this problem? I am really really frustrated.

I would give it another day or two. If it doesn't seem to start improving, I would return it for a new one. Most have issues with battery life initially, but it seems to get remarkably better after about a week or so. However, that does seem abnormally short as well by comparison to what many others have been getting. I would probably take it back and ask for a new one. That does sound like a bad phone.

4 hours sounds very fast. I got 2 days out of my first charge and am currently on 40% remaining after 56 hours. That is with all data on and everything syncing. If they already replaced your battery, it very well could be the phone. You could try a factory reset which will delete all your data and apps, but it may be a hardware issue. If you just got it, I would just exchange it. If it still happens, you have some rogue app.

Just to be sure, what are the top few heavy apps and their percentages using the battery in the battery manager?

Does the phone do much behind-the-scenes updating when it's fresh out of the box? My battery life got better once I owned the phone a while.

I've also deleted the task killer and haven't noticed any major change in battery life almost no matter what I do. It basically goes a day. I use it a lot.

Task killer is BAD. Don't use one for the incredible 2. My battery on first charge was only 14 hours but a couple days later I could get 50+.

Thanks for the reply. I got a new phone today, and I'm having the same issue. Again, the verizon reps turned everything off that needs to be off, and yet it's draining very fast. It's only been on for 2 hours, and it's more than half dead. It is telling me the following % for draining my battery : 89% display, 3% words with friends, 3% mail, 3% cell standby, and 3% android OS. So obviously it's the "display" aspect. I have the brightness down on the lowest possible setting (so dark I can hardly see), and I lowered the screen timeout to 30 seconds. What else can I do?!? Would love any advice you might have.

How did you get 14 hours on first day? What did you do? I can only seem to get about 4, and this is my second phone (inc 2 both times).

89% would indicate that you had the screen on nearly that entire time. The screen at the lowest brightness has lasted me over 7 hours with 2 days standby time. Either the screen is brighter than you think or it has been on more than 2 hours. Tap on display in the battery manager and it says howblong it was on for.

"awake time" is 2 hours and 24 minutes (it was at 2 hours when I posted earlier). I have been using my phone to input settings, download a couple apps. But should it be so low after 2 hours?
The brightness setting doesn't go any lower. I have it on the far left!
