Incredible's battery life is not incredible

The battery continues to improve. So far today it has been on for 16 hours and I still have 50% left. I have not used it heavily but I have left the internet and the GPS on all day just to see what would happen. I am a much happier Droid owner at this point.

FWIW I've been pretty happy with the Innocell 1750mAh battery. In 4 days I don't think I've dipped below 50% before bedtime, which is great. YMMV.

Here is something else to try..

Battery force FIX found!

+1 on this! I followed that post yesterday and have noticed greatly improved battery life. Apparently, it's a software issue and it's not charging the battery to 100%. According to that post you charge your phone until the green light comes on. Unplug it, turn it off, and hook it back up. The red light will come on and stay on for another hour or 2. Unplug it again when it turns green and hook it back up while still turned off and the red light will come on again but shorter this time.

I did that yesterday. I charged it until the green light came on. Turned it off and plugged it in and the red light came on. I went to sleep and woke up with the green light on. I unplugged it and replugged it and the red light came back on. I took a shower and went back and the green light was on. I unplugged it and turned it on at that time. It was around 8:30. At 1:00pm it was still reading full charge after sending 5 text messages, checking a couple emails, making 2 short phone calls, checking the market for a few minutes, and downloading a couple updates. At around 2 the first little tick ticked off the battery indicator. That would usually happen within an hour of having it on before. I worked out at 5:30 and still had only the little tick gone. I checked the battery status in the settings menu and it was still reading about 90%. I streamed DroidLive for about and hour and had 70% left. I went home to jog and had DroidLive on, GPS on with a running app called BuddyRunner running tracking my jog, and bluetooth turned on with a pair of motorola S9 wireless head sets connected. I did all this for about an hour and still had 50% battery left at the end. In fact, my headsets died while I was running. It was about 10:00 when I plugged it back in and still had 40% left. Before it would have croaked during the jog.

I noticed it would charge "super fast" before so I guess it is true that there is a software problem that isn't charging the battery all the way. Apparently when the green light comes on it doesn't charge anymore so If you leave it on the charger turned on all night it will not charge anymore than it did when the light turned green. According to the post you have to keep doing this and we have to hope HTC sends out a fix for this. I don't know. All I know is the battery is lasting a lot longer than it did before.

Folks, I do not think the battery works with the device to charge, in regards to when it shuts a charge off. The battery handles that, unless the Inc has some new handshake technology. Even if there was some form of "talking" between the battery and Inc for charging, it would be low level, on & off process. USB power for charge is not a hgh level software issue.

It is a 1300mah battery powering 3.7" high res display, 3G, Android and the social apps, audio, games, maps, gps, wifi, etc. Even if just some of these things on, the battery is just 1300mah.

iPhone is mentioned a lot in comparisons, but smaller screen, lower res, no multi-task or Flash in browser.

The 2150mah battery will probably be the biggest accessory seller in VZW history.

What is or will be the highest capacity battery they sell that doesn't add bulk to the device?

as of right now its the seidio 1750mAh and if i would imagine that will be it without a new back for the phone

Anyone else's Incredibles battery drop from 100% to 90% within 15 minutes? My battery life is not bad since I upgraded to the Seidio 1750 mah but I notice when I take it off the charger it drops to 90% very quickly. Within 15-20 minutes I am at 90% with no use at all. Anyone else experience this?

I might try the Sedio battery. Who has the best price with a warranty and speedy delivery?

Any chance it's sold locally through an electronics vendor like Best Buy or Radio Shack?

That's pretty much what mine does. I'm not sure if it drops 10% right off the bat, but it's definitely down at around 92% or 94% pretty quickly. Like, before I've even left the house.

I've just learned to ignore it. In fact, ever since installing the Sedio battery I've come to ignore the battery % indicator entirely -- at least until later in the day. Kind of like how my laptop is never at 100%, even when it's plugged in for hours on end.

Some people have mentioned that the software might be an issue where the phone stops charging when it think it reaches 100% but it might be only 80% or 90% max. I tried the method today which I wish I could reference back to the site to give credit to them.

1) Charged the Battery until it reach 100% and stop charging. I unplugged it and then a replugged it and it charged some more to 100%. Unplugged it again and replugged and this time it didn't charge anymore.
2) I noticed now that I talked on the phone for about an hour that it hardly went down and in the past observations( I have made many trust me ) that it dropped like 10% instantly to at least 20% after an hour of talking.

I will continue to monitor but I think that the person was right about the software kicking in thinking its at 100% and stops charging the battery when its not at 100% capacity yet.

Also was it on here somewhere or on another forum that you can put in the HTC Tilt2 1500mAH OEM batterys? I saw them on ebay for $14.99 with free shipping as opposed to the 1500mAH ones for $49.00 on some sites like HTCpedia.

This battery thing is getting to be well, in a word draining haha. Damn, just get another battery as a spare. These phones aren't just phones any more so they will suck battery life if you're using it incessantly, (like I do.) I love all the great info coming to us from all this but WOW enough already about what a ****** battery we got in such a GREAT phone. STOP watching the battery and enjoy, have that spare standing by to replace the one that just died. Life's too short. Just my .02 cents for what it's worth, I know there is a legitimate grip here just saying have fun with this "Incredible" device. :icon_ lala:
