Is Droid Turbo getting Lollipop?

It gives you a rough idea of what its apparently supposed to look like..idk why they've made all of these accidental switches to lollipop..like the simulator and the vzw page showed 5.0,2 for a few hours .. Vzw is getting weird...who knows..maybe they were fixing to release something and found an issue..

i have been experiencing a lot of Force Closing on my Turbo Lately and I dont want to Reset it. Playstore, Contacts, mostly Google Services.

I have been having major issues with Playstore, Google Chrome was so bad I had to switch over to Cheetah Mobile, Contacts is constantly freezing as well.

Good freaking lord . You all are acting like such drama queens . Even the Mods . Please gang your phone works just fine on KK. You all know Moto and Verizon are working on LP. And we will probably get it within the next couple to few weeks ." The phone forgotten " Talk about being melodramatic . Everyone is entitled to there opinion but if you sit back and read all this and actually use logic all of these Will the turbo get 5.X ever threads across all the different forums gets very laughable and annoying. Ok carry on back to the daily dose of 5.x drama. :)

Hey @1coopgt , I have to say I understand where you're coming from. I am not one who is stressing out about not getting Lollopop. I am asimply lending perhaps some reasonable hypothesis/explanation as to why the update hasn't happened yet, with information and opinion gleaned from countless reads and research. I am personally quite happy with my phone as it is. It's by far the best phone I've owned thus far and if it never got an upgrade/update/whatever, but continued to work like it does now, I couldn't be more satisfied.

There may be a few features of Lollipop that would be fun, entertaining or convenient to have, but since I don't know what they are I am not missing them. I suppose I could look and then I might be a bit anxious to get the update for the Turbo, but other than perhaps giving it a better battery life, I can't think of anything else I'd like to see improved.

Still, I can also understand the position many are taking that the upgrade was promised and hasn't been delivered in nearly as timely a fashion (still yet not available), compared to many others. In contrast, there are still plenty of other phones out there who haven't gotten it, but this is supposed to have been a flagship phone so one would hope it gets more attention regarding upgrades and such than lesser phones.

I was having Contacts FC'ing but that's stopped. Occasional Play Store FC's. No big deal, as it fires right back up. I blame auto updates for that which I've since shut off.

OMG...I'm guessing no one actually tried the "Simulator"?
That is far and away the worst excuse for a "simulator" I've ever seen.

All's good . The Droid Forum has been a lot calmer than the Android Forum about 5.1 Lollypop update. So it kind of surprised me the other day when I saw some of the things being said . I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that hasn't had any issues with the turbo . I do wish the battery would last a bit longer than it does. I do hope 5.1 comes soon but I'd rather they take their time and get it right .

I've been back to "whenever/whatever" ever since my rant (which still holds true) about the message "you're device is up to date" and miscelaneoous ramblings about Corporate greed and ego.
I H@te Verizon in every way imaginable but have no Love for any Large company preying on our dependencies.
If I could I would throw my phone out the window and almost have more than once.
Being in business and needing the phone makes me More critical of the mediocre service of Verizon. This device is merely a necessary evil for me. No fun, no toy.

I wish there was one simple answer to solve these problems for your phone, but alas, there isn't. What is important to realize is that the problems you're experiencing, I am not, nor are plenty of others, and yet there are some who report similar problems to yours and some even more severe.

I don't want to excuse the possibility of hardware or firmware error, but in the world of troubleshooting of computers (and yes, these are computers), if one device performs normally, and an identical device performs abnormally under the same OS (depending on the type of failure), the possibilities are hardware failure, software conflicts (*a big issue here), OS/ROM/Firmware corruption, malware of some type, or user error. Notice I placed user error at the back end. Although it is more often than not the problem in PCs, I don't suspect that to be the case here with these malperforming devices.

I surely don't have all the same apps installed that you do, and I might not have even the same versions of some that I may have of yours. It's these app conflicts than can create FC problems. For the record, the three applications you mentioned, Play Store, Google Chrome and Contacts have all functioned entirely normal for me, never force-closed that I can recall (though maybe once for Play Store), and I am using them constantly all day and every day. This suggests that there is something significantly different between the user profile of your phone and that of mine. It could easily be an app that you installed, one that was updated automatically, or it could be a corrupted OS/ROM. Whatever the case, I would start with a process of elimination.

I would suggest one of three paths:

Path one; reboot your phone into Safe Mode and run it that way for a few days, and try the apps above that you've had problems with. If they function normally then I would bet bottom dollar that you have a software conflict of some kind. If so you can follow path two or three after, some will go two, then three, but I go right to three.

Path two; this is a rather tedious process and may ultimately result in path two anyway, but some have had complete success first uninstalling ALL apps that you don't actively use, then uninstalling ALL updates to factory installed apps, then run the phone for a while and see if the three apps you mention function normally. If so, then allow the automatic updates of the factory installed apps and test again for a few days. Finally, start re-installing any additional apps you may want to have for infrequent use, and after each app run the phone for a while and watch for unusual operations. This path can also include process of elimination of the frequently used apps by uninstalling them and checking to see if the problems go away. Again, this is very time consuming, tedious and may eventually result in doing path three anyway, so path three is reserved for the very calm and patient, of which I am not. I go from one to three and that's the end.

Path three either after you've identified a problem with path one above, or if you simply want to start fresh, back up everything that is important to you and do a full Factory Data Reset, then begin to install apps one at a time that actively you use, one at a time, allow them to settle in and get acclimated to the OS and other apps, and then watch carefully for any strange or unusual functionality.

Whatever you choose, I hope things go well for you and you are able to get the phone to begin operating as it should. If after the Factory Data Reset, the phone still functions abnormally then I would say there are only two possible options left. Re-flash the ROM, or replace the unit under warranty. You will get Verizon to replace it with a CLNR once you've done a FDR, so re-flashing the ROM may not be worth your time.

Good luck and I hope that eventually your phone works as well as mine does!

Clear the cache if you haven't.. Its a lot less painful than an fdr..and sometimes will help immensely..

I found the solution to this whole debacle. I took the Turbo back to Verizon and exchanged it for a Nexus 6 which is now running Android M preview.

So I still get a nice Moto phone, but no longer have to wait months for updates.

Problem solved!

I like everything about the Nexus except the screen size. Personally it doesn't fit well with me. But, I got an S6 yesterday, and kept my Turbo.
