I have been having major issues with Playstore, Google Chrome was so bad I had to switch over to Cheetah Mobile, Contacts is constantly freezing as well.
I wish there was one simple answer to solve these problems for your phone, but alas, there isn't. What is important to realize is that the problems you're experiencing, I am not, nor are plenty of others, and yet there are some who report similar problems to yours and some even more severe.
I don't want to excuse the possibility of hardware or firmware error, but in the world of troubleshooting of computers (and yes, these are computers), if one device performs normally, and an identical device performs abnormally under the same OS (depending on the type of failure), the possibilities are hardware failure, software conflicts (*a big issue here), OS/ROM/Firmware corruption, malware of some type, or user error. Notice I placed user error at the back end. Although it is more often than not the problem in PCs, I don't suspect that to be the case here with these malperforming devices.
I surely don't have all the same apps installed that you do, and I might not have even the same versions of some that I may have of yours. It's these app conflicts than can create FC problems. For the record, the three applications you mentioned, Play Store, Google Chrome and Contacts have all functioned entirely normal for me, never force-closed that I can recall (though maybe once for Play Store), and I am using them constantly all day and every day. This suggests that there is something significantly different between the user profile of your phone and that of mine. It could easily be an app that you installed, one that was updated automatically, or it could be a corrupted OS/ROM. Whatever the case, I would start with a process of elimination.
I would suggest one of three paths:
Path one; reboot your phone into Safe Mode and run it that way for a few days, and try the apps above that you've had problems with. If they function normally then I would bet bottom dollar that you have a software conflict of some kind. If so you can follow path two or three after, some will go two, then three, but I go right to three.
Path two; this is a rather tedious process and may ultimately result in path two anyway, but some have had complete success first uninstalling ALL apps that you don't actively use, then uninstalling ALL updates to factory installed apps, then run the phone for a while and see if the three apps you mention function normally. If so, then allow the automatic updates of the factory installed apps and test again for a few days. Finally, start re-installing any additional apps you may want to have for infrequent use, and after each app run the phone for a while and watch for unusual operations. This path can also include process of elimination of the frequently used apps by uninstalling them and checking to see if the problems go away. Again, this is very time consuming, tedious and may eventually result in doing path three anyway, so path three is reserved for the very calm and patient, of which I am not. I go from one to three and that's the end.
Path three either after you've identified a problem with path one above, or if you simply want to start fresh, back up everything that is important to you and do a full Factory Data Reset, then begin to install apps one at a time that actively you use, one at a time, allow them to settle in and get acclimated to the OS and other apps, and then watch carefully for any strange or unusual functionality.
Whatever you choose, I hope things go well for you and you are able to get the phone to begin operating as it should. If after the Factory Data Reset, the phone still functions abnormally then I would say there are only two possible options left. Re-flash the ROM, or replace the unit under warranty. You will get Verizon to replace it with a CLNR once you've done a FDR, so re-flashing the ROM may not be worth your time.
Good luck and I hope that eventually your phone works as well as mine does!
