I know that KK changed the way apps can access the SD Card, but in my experience the SD Card was still usable. At one point I had 4 phones with SD cards all on KK and we could still use the SD Card with almost every app.
Yea I never had serious issues with KK and SD Access. My music app could still see the music, my gallery app could still see pictures.
The only problem I ever had was try to edit video and saving it somewhere else.
There have been some posts on the Moto forum with Droid Maxx users getting that alert. They said that it is set to update only over WiFi and will jot update over 4G. Sounds like the same dictionary update? Do you have access to WiFi? See if it will update when connected to that.
Someone there posted this: Settings > Google > Search > Voice > Offline speech recognition > Auto Update tab > un select WiFi only and select Auto Update At Any Time.
That might be the setting that prevents the Dictionary from updating over WiFi only?
I re enabled google search..and it allowed me to update those settings.. But nodda..perhaps i need to check for an update.. Seems like a waste..since i don't use google now ..at all

That makes sense. The way I understand it, is that an app can only access a folder on the S D Card that it creates. So if you were using an app to try and edit a file in a folder that the app did not create it will not work. I honestly don't see Google ever changing that policy because it is a security issue allowing apps to edit files on the SD card....in a folder that the app did not create and does not have "ownership" of that folder.
