Is Motorola working on an update to fix ics battery for RAZR?

should i root and freeze a ton of apps to see if that helps? umm, or check / monitor something else?

I would freeze unused bloatware apps (i doubt the problem is there though) i would set up smart actions to turn off data when on wifi, set the screen brightness to around 25 to 30% when indoors only set on auto when you need to (again, i doubt your main problem is with that stuff) download the "lte/on off" app, set it to cdma only. Also take your phone off global setting.

You are going to have to let that battery monitor run for a full cycle of being on the battery. It is not going to tell you what is killing your battery after 10 minutes of usage, I would charge it up let that monitor keep track of it.

I don't have anything frozen all bloatware is in place and it is not affecting my battery life, so I don't think that is a fix all for you.

Ok thrgk, between sydman, josh, myself and even FoxKat himself we will get your Maxx so it is getting at least 24 hours on a charge.
  • First thing you are going to do is finish FoxKatting. You already half way through that cycle. Let your phone now die a near natural death (which means do not plug it in to give it a quick charge, let it drain on its own til 10%). As soon as it gets to the 10% battery low warning, turn it off and plug it in till it is 100%. There done with claibrating your meter, now you can use and charge your phone as you normally would.
  • While you are waiting for your final phase of Foxkatting, follow Josh's suggestions to set up the battery Extender smart action that will turn off your data/wifi when phone not in use, then it will automatically turn it back on when you are on screen.
  • Follow Josh's suggestion to turn off global roaming (major battery hog). If you are in a weak 4g area, set it to 3g only mode. Download the HTC LGE on/Off switch from play store and in the dorp down box, set it to CDMA auto (PRL).
  • Again following Josh's suggestion, either set your display at auto brightness or set it at 30% and use a toggle widget to switch it back and forth between 30 to 100% for when you go outside.
  • Like Sydman said, we won't know much till you have run your phone for about 5 hours but after about 5 hours, we may be able to get an idea if there are any apps that are causing the problem.
More to follow!

I agree, there is something more going on in this case. The normal "fixes" are just to boost your battery life by a small percentage. In a case such as this, we are trying to find the reason it's draining at 500% it's normal rate. I just listed the stuff i did because it can't hurt.

I would not expect better battery life out of the S3 since it has a smaller battery and a bigger screen.

Have you tried downloading something like Bad A$$ Battery monitor to see what is using up all of your battery?

No longer called that. Now called GSam Battery Monitor.

Umm I did plug it in this morning so it did get a little charging. Do I need to start over on the training? Don't charge rest of today until 10% and do it again? Or is just doing it tonight OK? Did it last night but this morning I plugged it in to charge at 80%.

Ideas on battery hogs copied from a previous post: (it gives a bit more detail.. sorry some are already what is mentioned)
  • 4g, especially if you do not have a strong signal because it struggles to keep the signal or may have to keep searching for a signal. Same with wifi. If you are not where you can connect to wifi, it will keep searching and try to connect to a wifi signal. Turn off data and/or wifi when you are not using it.
  • Background data sync. Causes your phone to keep syncing at various times... who knows how often. Turn off background data sync and manually sync your data a few times a day. You can put a toggle widget on your homescreen to make this convenient.
  • Email that is set to collect your incoming mail automatically or frequently (every 15 minutes) will burn a lot of battery because your phone is constantly polling for mail. Set your email accounts to collect your mail every hour or less. You can even set your email to collect mail manually... where when you open that account, it collects your new mail then. These settings will depend on your needs.
  • And the infamous display. It uses most of your battery by design. Having it set at 100% will use tons. Set it at auto or even 30% and when you need it at 100% (outside) you can adjust it. Again, you can place a toggle switch on your homescreen to make this more convenient.

Hoe about since I charged it before it got yo 10% today after doing half of the training? Continue with it or start over

Yeah, like josh said... just to be on the safe side and it wouldn't hurt, start over again. At some point today, whenever it is convenient, turn your phone off and charge it to 100%. Then use it without any charging til the 10% low battery warning. Turn it off, charge to 100% again and you are set on calibrating your meter.

I was getting miserable battery life after the update. I used Matt's utility to fastboot .211, essentially giving me a clean install of ICS. Battery life greatly improved. Maybe not as good a GB, but substantially better. I am back to getting 4-5hrs screen time out of a single charge.

Tap'd from my Maxx

OK I did all the things I was supposed to. Will start over training. In a few hrs post more screen shots? If after training still bad battery any other options? Really want to get this working

Shoot thrgk, if your phone is at 70-90% now, you could charge to 100% with phone off now if you want. The idea is to start with a fully 100% charged battery.
