Is there a better way to copy and paste?

selecting text to copy by using shift + finger is like trying to eat your cereal using a backhoe. Is there anything that uses a curser like my BB?

You can use the pull out keyboard and use the d pad to select your items. Also, many of the secondary keyboards (smart keyboard pro etc.) have arrow options now. Just a four way arrow similar to what the d pad would do. Basically you select copy and then select a starting point with you finger. From there you can use the arrows to better select what you want or deselect what was highlighted..

I agree that the copy and paste needs an overhaul of some sort. Just not user friendly.

How do you use the d pad to select? I tried selecting some text from a web page and the pad just scrolled the page around and the same when I tried to select some text from handcent. Nearly impossible to select what I want.

from the browser and some apps you can hit menu and choose select text then simply run your finger arcross the text you wanna copy like you would with a mouse on a computer

Long press what you want to copy, then click copy
Long press where you want to paste, then click paste(the on screen keyboard must be open though)

I discovered the copy feature that swype has a few weeks ago, for me, it works so much better than anything else I've tried.

I must be missing something. Where do I find that select text menu in Swype? Been trying everything to no avail. Even checked out the help for Swype and can't see it mentioned anywhere.

Thanks!

So if I understand correctly, there is no real way to copy stuff. Trying to copy text from sms I cant zoom and my finger is as big as 4 lines of text. Most of the time it starts to select, but then it starts scrolling the page, very frustrating. Or if you zoom a web page in enough to accurately select then you have to scroll left-right and down while selecting which doesn't work either.
I have not tried swype, but am reluctant to spend money on something that I don't know if it will do what I want. Just seems silly to have to spend money on something that should be standard equipment:mad:

Swype from the button left swype key to the SYM key
to get the large numbers keyboard Swype from the swype button to the F/G/H keys
