Dude, these companies are run for a profit. They get into exclusivity and marketing agreements with Motorola and HTC, etc. They can't just make financially stupid decisions or breach contracts because you want your Galaxy Nexus now.

And they would make more money by releasing this phone. I'm curious how many people just don't buy anything when say "Galaxy android phone?" And the vzw Rep just frowns back at them. Even if the nexus earns Verizon less profit for unit that can be made up for in sheer volume of units moved.

I know it has a lot to do with size as well but instead of being like that why don't you do me a favor and explain to me and others exactly what it means? I'd appreciate it! I KNOW I'm not the only one who thinks it has to do with quality.

I was just messing around, :p
As others have said, Mega pixels is the actual size of the image and thats it.

Put it this way, I can go to the store and buy a 16 Mega Pixel Point-and-shoot Digital Camera for around $200
But in no way possible, will that camera even come close to matching the quality of my Canon DSLR that is only 12.2 Mega Pixels. There is a lot more involved than just MP. You got The Camera Sensor and the Lens being two MAJOR factors over MP.

That being said, Mega Pixels do come in handy if you plan on printing large images. The higher the resolution of the photo, the less stretched out the large print will be. But who prints large prints of photos taken with a phone?

Let's say for some crazy ass reason this is true...

Would this be something that should get turned on (ability to pre-order) come 12am EST on 11/29, or would it prob be something they enable sometime throughout the day tomorrow with an official "pre orders are now live" announcement?

The guy that wrote the article is gonna get ruined worse than P3Droid did a couple of weeks ago. The comments at the end of the article are killing him and he continues to add fuel to the fire he's standing in by citing old info. Ironically, P3's tweets are looking more and more realistic.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to pre order tomorrow.

P3's tweets are looking more and more realistic.

Sure, condescendingly more realistic :D. Anyway, that's another pointless issue. I can't wait to unfollow a few people from Twitter once this sexy thang goes live on vzw. Guess we'll see in the morning.....if not... onto the next rumor thread

I'm taking the cautious route here guys, I won't pre-order this phone.

I have waited this long and passed on the Bionic and Razor so I'm thinking the best thing now is to wait a week or so after the release and see what the response is here on the forum AND see for myself at the local "useless" Verizon store.

This phone has to last me at least two years just like my trusty Droid 1 has. And if it's not up snuff I can wait a month or two for the next latest and greatest. Sure i can return it but why pay the restocking fee and go through the hassle of dealing with the idiots at the local VZW store.

Just get the phone there is an exstended return policy

still. they literally delayed the phone almost a whole month. and it was technically delayed, proof being the leaked photo of the gnexus that was to be sold for $200

I just read the specs on this phone and I could very well be missing something but it doesn't seem any better than the Bionic besides. 2ghz of processor speed. It has the same ram, also it has a 5mp front camera and the Bionic has an 8mp camera. Is there anything that makes this phone so amazing that I am missing? Not being a smart ass or anything just legitimitly curious is all...thanks guys..

Uh dual core 1.2 ghz doesn't mean 1.2 x 2, the processing speed is still 1.2 however it has two cores to complete the task. The ram isn't the same considering half is used for webtop in the Bionic and yeah just because there is a higher megapixel doesn't mean it is a better camera.

You seem to be under the impression that the Nexus is going to generate a lot more sales than the RAZR or Rezound. I think you'd be suprised at how little buzz there is outside of tech forums. It isn't an iPhone (hype-wise). I think it is much smarter as a business strategy to spread out the release dates.

They make better profit if they unload their inventory and then get new products, not by sitting on inventory that is a week old because something new just came out.

Um... first of all...

1) Nexus means nothing

2) Galaxy does mean something in the world of Android because it's about the first phone ever to match up to the iPhone in many respects

The Galaxy Nexus on Verizon isn't going to sell nearly the volume of even a Droid Razr. Verizon, correctly actually, understands that no one really except us cares about the Galaxy Nexus.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe Nexus has meaning. It means vanilla Android with an unlocked boot loader and updates directly from Google. That means a lot to me.

This is exactly the reason Google attached the Galaxy name to the Nexus. The Nexus devices in the past have been anything but successful in terms of sales. The Galaxy line of devices is now the most popular in the world, second only to the iPhone and that alone will push a lot of these devices. Once customers see the Nexus side by side with these other devices, the rest will be history. This phone sold like crazy in the UK and will do the same on Verizon. You'd be an idiot to think any less...

Your right, Nexus are developer devices, first for updates and 100% unlocked

to be honest. i dont care what meaning the name has. I just care about how cool the name is. The galaxy nexus sounds just awful. maybe it doesnt sound too bad now but remember when you first heard/said it? Nexus Prime is what the device should have been called. Nexus can mean that tp76 said, developer device, and prime means peak. In other words, best developer device. Thats good enough of a meaning for me.

Yes, once the Nexus is out in the wild and people have a chance to play with it, I think this bad boy will sell like hotcakes. However, at the start, I think a lot of people on here are overestimating just how popular it will be. For the common customer, "vanilla google", "ICS", and "developer phone" dont mean jack didly. It's how the phone looks and feels. From the reviews, this sounds like its gonna be a great looking and feeling phone, thats when the sales will really pickup. I honestly dont expect the presales and first week sales to be that huge, it will be what happens in the month or so after that will be impressive imo
