Just got an OTA from Moto this am

You go into stock recovery Power off then hold down power and up and down volume Or my link had video also
cant find a video in the link provided, the first link is the actual download, second link is for the one click methods.

But, once i'm in stock recovery where do I go? A step by step would be helpful, do i put the zip file on my sd card, leave on computer? What do I click on once in recovery to get the zip to work? thanks

I have also sbf'ed my phone (fxz is what its called now I guess) when trying to install a rom cuz i was bootlooping. Have you tried updating your phone that way?

I do believe I have a stock kernel...I'm aware that my baseband is 03 and stock is 00. The app is called screen grabber on the Market.

You are correct...after further review my kernel has been updated.

That explains it. I looked at the Screen Grabber app and it says, "If you don't have root access, then don't expect this to work on your device."

If u applied the leaked update to 893 it would have updated ur kernel. There is no way to revert it. The fastboot method to restore to stock DOES NOT revert the kernel. So odds are you never applied that moto and update. U may have applied custom roms that updated ur system version bur not the kernel. None of the fasboot or rsdlite methods if flashing back to stock can revert a changed kernel.

ok, I understand about updating to 5.7.893, did that on my old phone. What we are trying to figure out is how you went from that back to completely stock, including radio and kernal.

So I didnt have the update I did it in recovery and it said I had it. I understand about the roms if you flash TH3ORY ro it says 5.7.893 but it is just the base not the kernel and radio

damn you lol lucky you LOL

This further supports the findings that 893 is the official update. Not sure why everyone is waiting for the supposed official ota when there are 3 sources now claiming this is indeed the official one. And 893 is all.over the web. There is a page somewhere that also has the 5.5.893 update and the incremental in between that can get you to 5.7.893. If I can find the site ill post a link. In any event try googling and u should find it. Just download the zips and apply I order i'm ur stock recovery and that's alok. No more waiting. Also just an fyi there are no real features in this update just some fixes to the radio so if ur not having data connectivity issues there is no reason to even care about this.

Here you go: Easily upgrade to 5.7.893, keep root AND webtop now :) - xda-developersf you are still on complete stock, you can just download Blur_Version.5.5.886-5.7.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US and flash in stock recovery. You must be COMPLETELY STOCK. If you are on 5.5.893. scroll down to where it says "NO LONGER NEEDED STEPS", and download and flash each of them in order and there you go, you're on 5.7.893. No more waiting, and you're on the official update path.

That is the one that I used.

I do not have data issues, it doesnt affect everyone. My point is simply that peopel are scrambling to find out if they screwed their phones up and got off the official upgrade path by upplying the leaked updates and scrambling to figure out how to revert completely to stock, when in fact, for those users that applied the 5.7.893 update in stock recovery FROM motoroal, those users are up to date and have nothing at all to worry about. If you did this, and still have data issues, then maybe this phone isn' for you and replace it under warranty or get a new phone. Thats all im saying.

There is so much confusion about how one gets back completely to stock, etc. The FACT is that if you did update your kernel, then there is NO WAY AT ALL that you were able to revert it. So in your case, maybe you got to 5.7.893 from a custom rom, but that never updated the kernel. And thus when you used the fastboot onclick restore to stock, your phone is completely back to stock because it didn't have to revert the kernel. This is 100% a fact that there is no known way to revert the kernel and none of those fastboot methods can do it. Unless someone has a signed patch from moto which i haven't seen floating around, it's just not possible. Im just trying to clean up the confusion here, because from your posts it is leading people to believe that there is a way, but there isn't. And more importantly, there is no point to trying to revert if you're on 5.7.893 cause it is the official one.
