Just got an OTA from Moto this am

For what its worth, I just bought a bionic 2 days ago and its running 5.7.893 right out of the box. No ota update.

can you post up a pic of your system page? If you have to take a pic with your camera.
Can we verify from his phone that the leaked 5.7.893 is the same kernal and radio by these numbers?

Kinda lost track of this tread for a while. Has anyone substantiated whether this leak fixes, or, drastically minimizes the data drop issue? Also curious whether this changed the radio code levels or not. Getting hard to ferret out with all the chatter. Good to pacify me while waiting for the ota

And it reverted the radio and kernal?

If his kernel truly was updated to what 5.7.893 updated to, there is no method to revert it. The link he provided that restores to stock DOES NOT revert the kernel. I have tried it as have 10 other people and we all hve the same results, it fails on verifying the kernel. I even looked at the update_script code and it does a kernel check. It's not possible to revert the kernel. The only explanation is that the user wasn't actually on the full 5.7.893, but rather just a custom rom that had the system files updated. Seriously, no more back and forth on this or getting peoples hopes it, it is what it is.

And for the last time, if you are on 5.7.893 from moto's update, THIS IS SUPPOSEDLY THE OFFICIAL ONE, so why would you be trying to revert back to stock????? You are on the latest version so shoudl be happy.

Im already running theory rom. Id have to sbf back to stock. I can do that if you like, or do you want a pic of the system version while on this rom?

find my post with the xda link that has the incremental updates. Download and in stock recovery apply the incremental ones in order in the "steps no longer needed section". This will get you to 5.7.893 and you're good to go.

I do not have data issues, it doesnt affect everyone. My point is simply that peopel are scrambling to find out if they screwed their phones up and got off the official upgrade path by upplying the leaked updates and scrambling to figure out how to revert completely to stock, when in fact, for those users that applied the 5.7.893 update in stock recovery FROM motoroal, those users are up to date and have nothing at all to worry about. If you did this, and still have data issues, then maybe this phone isn' for you and replace it under warranty or get a new phone. Thats all im saying.

There is so much confusion about how one gets back completely to stock, etc. The FACT is that if you did update your kernel, then there is NO WAY AT ALL that you were able to revert it. So in your case, maybe you got to 5.7.893 from a custom rom, but that never updated the kernel. And thus when you used the fastboot onclick restore to stock, your phone is completely back to stock because it didn't have to revert the kernel. This is 100% a fact that there is no known way to revert the kernel and none of those fastboot methods can do it. Unless someone has a signed patch from moto which i haven't seen floating around, it's just not possible. Im just trying to clean up the confusion here, because from your posts it is leading people to believe that there is a way, but there isn't. And more importantly, there is no point to trying to revert if you're on 5.7.893 cause it is the official one.

Im not trying to say anything here all I know is what I said if its impossible than I must have done something wrong and didnt know it. If 5.7.893 is the oiffical OTA then what is 5.8.894 http://download1210.mediafire.com/o.../Blur_Version.5.5.886.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip

the system version is not meaningful if you're running custom roms. What is meaningful is the kernel and the baseband if you applied motorolas update in stock recovery that took you to 5.7.893. if you just did the custom rom, then you're kernel/baseband would have remained stock and not been updated.

5.7.893 specs:

Sytem version:
5.7.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US

Baseband version:
CDMA_N_03.1C.57R LTEDC_U_05.15.02

Kernel:
2.6.35.7-g68606e6vwm736@il93lnxdroid43 #1

If your stats show this, then you are on the latest version according to what motorola told me when i spoke with them 2 days ago on the phone, level 2 tech support. The official update when released shoudl take you to these specs. If you don't want to wait, the link posted in previous posts on XDA has the zip file that can get you here already, assuming that you are stock.

that is just another "test" version that moto released in trying to see what would work best for the final version. Apparently, after test results, motorola decided that 5.7.893 is more optimal and is gong to release that as the official one. This is the best explanation i can provide, but it seems to be correct, as new uesrs buying phones are now finding their phone on 5.7.893 out of the box AND moto told me that my phone had the latest update when i called them. There's just too many versions floating around, and too mny people trying too many different things, with varying "results", so its leading to complete chaos and confusion. I blame motoroal myself, cause they can't just be straightforward and tell us outright what the version is or if there will be problems for people that applied a certain update manually.

All that said, all this back and forth and speculation is just making people crazy and i think its leading to much wasted time. Anyways, I am bowing out of this thread, good luck all. I believe the info I have provided is correct but feel free to keep searching for the truth, lol, whatever that may be.

@dags5000...then what's up with 5.8.894?

read above. whats up with 5.7.999 and 5.8.999 and the myriad of other versions. They are all just versions that are being tested. Thats it. For, i dont care anymore, cause im on 5.7.893. If moto is shipping new phones with this version, then that means that future official OTAs will work for this version. So if it turns out that 5.8.894 becomes the next version released, so be it, i'll still be fine (as will anyone else that applied the 5.7.893 leak and is desperately trying to get back to stock).

One more quick yes or no answer When you say stock you mean stock foreverooted

i didn't say stock in that quote? when i reference stock in other posts, i mean the the phone being as it was out of the box. If you rooted your phone (or forever rooted or whatever), that is still stock. IF you removed bloatware, removed apps, or updated the kernel/radio, that is not stock.

Good enough then. Thanks

ya know wood, I'm with ya on this one. I've spent the better part of the day worrying about this. I could have been doing better things LOL I'm reinstalling 5.7.893 and being done with it. If an actual update ever comes out and this one aint it I'm sure eventually there will be a way out or a way to update.
I have to go to work in 1.5hrs so I better get going trying to reinstall everything. Take care all and I'll still check things out to see where this leads.
