[KERNEL] Kernel (deprimed_test) - Break It If You Can

DMal
Just saw your post, tomysco thanks for trying to explain my ways.
D, sorry did not mean for you to feel hated on. I was just being silly and typing exactly what popped up in my head, no pun intended. My apologies, just couldn't resist the opportunity to use an Orville Redenbacher reference as it only presents itself once a decade. Please understand if you were perhaps more used to my posts and the "voice" of them out may not have come across as buying as out did. Totally my bad.

Regarding prime mentioning that the dalvik has to be built, takes time depending on amount and type of apps on partition.

All Link users don't forget after the dalvik build for the apps on partition, make sure to link them as well to the ext, they can really clog up internal space otherwise. The linking takes a second after the Link app reads what is there. Should be second button on pop up menu.

Sorry again Dmal, foot fault danceswithbongs. Second serve.

Saturday its a Saturday, 5 days of work, one whole day of play.
Come on everybody put on your rollerskates and say, Saturday its a Saturday its a Saturdayeeyayeeyay.

I think you may have read it wrong or I wrote it wrong.
I actually did the experiment and out met with failure.
I meant copy the linking files themselves, not the apps.
But I am unable to copy them.
The idea was to not wipe ext, flash new ROM, run link mount script,
paste back link files, reboot. But like I mentioned, couldn't copy them.
I will continue to tinker, as it is all I know. Referencing to it as coding, modding or developing would merely be an offense to those words and an affront to the English language and the fine people at Websters. And that don't mean the Papadopolous family.

I haven't used prime's latest creation, so can't answer that.
But whenever I flash a nightly for example, that installs kernel again that I don't use.
I will then flash the kernel I want and just let link app re setup the script.
Reboot and everything is back and linked.

A new thing I am trying is copying the data/app files that are just the links onto my sd, not wiping the ext, flashing new ROM, letting link app run script.
Reboot, make sure ext mounts by opening data/ext2 and seeing if the apps appear if not hot reboot, then recopy the data/app link files back, reboot and see if that will relink everything rather than setting it all up one app at a time.

You can link all apps in /data/app with a single command, it works but defeats the purpose of link2sd.

I understood, you were saying copy the symlinks made using link2sd in order to prevent the need to redo the linking after a ROM flash.

I was saying you can do this but I don't think the link2sd app understand once the deed is done. I will experiment when I have time.

There is a way to do this without using link2sd, then use it afterward.

All you do is change the extension to the apps you don't want moved in /data/app to something like fooapp.ap removing the k from apk then do this (all one line):

mv /data/app/*.apk /data/sdext2/app/ && ln -s /data/sdext2/app/*.apk /data/app/

Then do this to rename all .ap back to .apk, reboot and hope for the best.

mv /data/app/*.ap /data/app/*.apk

All done as superuser of course.

I think it may be the case that I don't know what either of us is saying.
I'm just a caveman, thawed out in this strange world.
I don't understand your people's data throttling or language.
I am scared by the fast moving metal beasts going in opposite directions and don't know this land's coda.
But I know this, every android should have an unlocked bootloader.
No idea what this means, but I know it must be true.

Been thinking of giving these kernels a try for awhile now, but cant see reading threw 113 pages right now, are the links in the OP the most up to date kernel links? if now where & or what page can they be found on? Thanks.

The links in the op should be up to date. You can always update the deprimed kernel in a terminal editor with the scripts in the 2nd post.

How's progress on the 3G fix coming? For me this is like the biggest issue with gingerbread ROM's atm. I get multiple phone calls a day and I'd say that like 30% of the time my 3G fails to restore itself after a call, kind of annoying.

Out of curiosity, do you know if anyone else has this issue? I sympathize, but I don't ever have this problem.

Worth the read when you have the time.

Agreed. I moved on to a thunderbolt but I still follow this thread. Prime's kernels and scripts are top notch. Hope to see him on that platform in the future

Sporadic but I have it happen.
