[KERNEL] Kernel (deprimed_test) - Break It If You Can

My power has been out for over 24 hours (was in a tornado also but that's a different story altogether), I'm behind at everything currently.

To the poster that was having a permission issue, you need a different version of busybox. What version is your system running on PE?

I will get to everyone's question but I must go pickup my wife currently.

Thanks to everyone who have been helping new users.

I suppose some documentation would definitely help :)

I believe its BusyBox v1.16.2. Atleast, thats what it said when I go into my terminal and input "busybox stat."

So for those using Prime's kernel, do you get better battery life than stock(or stock cyanogen 7 in my case)? Performance is great but if my battery dies faster, that is rough.

If you are comparing running at 1100 MHz with running at 550 MHz and if you are using the same governor settings with each, then yes, the battery will discharge faster at 1100 MHz. The phone will run warmer at 1100 MHz too.

If you have SetCPU, you can use profiles that can shift the phone to lower speeds when battery charge get lower.

is there a way to set it to boot up using the bumblebee govenor besides setcpu?

Go to settings>cm settings>performance>cpu settings. Check set on boot after you set your preference.

Hey zach thanks for the quick reply, I'm actually running this kernel on MIUI so I don't have the cm settings, is there a command to use in the term?

I don't think do. Maybe try cputuner on the market. Free app with high functionality

I ditched cpu tuner just to see what would happen and my battery life has increased significantly. I'm running deprime kernel at 600 on demand, standard voltage. Right now I still have 50% battery left with about 14 hours use. I loved cpu tuner but I'm starting to wonder if it was drawing more power than it was saving?

I'd like to add that my display has been on for more than 4 hours at this point as well.

Yeah, I'm running stock voltages with 900 MHz and no CPU app, just the CM settings. Between that and keeping my wifi off more frequently my battery life has significantly improved.

Slightly off topic, but we touched on it before, has anyone noticed some apps don't seem to play nice with wifi? My browser works great, but TweetDeck, for example does not. A few other apps too. I'm wondering if different apps go to the network in different manner?

May be a ipv6 issue, try this to temporarily disabled it:

Code:
su
sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1

My family made it through the storms and tornado fine (thanks for your concern and good wishes), my wife hurt her back but that happened while in transit to the storm shelter.

I have a few planned updates for deprimed this weekend so be on the lookout :)

First off, glad to hear you and your family are safe, seems the universe has decideddecided to give you a break finally.

Second, someone mentioned foregoing CPU tuner and it improved their battery life, I've found the same on my phone.

Last, compcache had been working for me, but seems to be borked with your latest deprimed and the CM7 #57 nightly. Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us this weekend, keep up the great work.

Good God Prime, life keeps throwing these ridonkulous curveballs at you. It's like you are a modern day Job. Yet you continue to pump out awesomeness.
Thanks and glad to hear that a bad back was the worst thing that occurred during the storm.
The images of the aftermath look more like post tsunami then post tornado. But I guess these were like no tornados ever seen before.
I remember you talking about making an entire ROM, if not my bad. I'd like to suggest a fitting name, if you are building one, how does this strike you: "The Phoenix"
Thanks for all you do for us. We all appreciate your work and knowledge.
