I like winter even more in the suburbs than when I lived in NYC... Snow stays cleaner and looks more picturesque... But I was always a winter fan even as a child... My mom could never get me to come in for dinner on a snowy day even if I was wet and cold!! ( I grew up in the Bronx)

I grew up in Brooklyn loved the snow as a kid but now commuting in slop the days after a snow storm are not fun at all ....

I can understand that... We lived in the Bronx till age 19, then Brooklyn then Wantagh till 20's. Driving thru slop wasn't fun and we didn't have 4WD. Been in CT for the last 30+ years and discovered 4WD (hockey made that necessary. Now the first thing I do for fun on a snowy day is take my truck out and slide around in the snow a little! My husband thinks I'm crazy... When my Dad taught me how to drive, he took me into a big empty snowy parking lot and let me play around till I was comfortable. I still do that every first snow storm.. reminds your"body memory" what to do and takes the fear away. Anything you're afraid of doing, you have to practice more... That was his theory...I think of him whenever I drive in an early winter snow! He was a good teacher... No nerves, no yelling, no fear!
