LauncherPro Beta (SUPER FAST & SMOOTH Launcher!)

i just did your test and mine did not redraw either. i also have pure calendar widget 4x2 running (scrolling disabled, color indicators disabled, and only looking ahead 7 days).

Optionally you can open your logs (with aLogCat from the market for example) and look for something like:

"Killing app android.process.acore (pid 14965) because provider org.koxx.pure_calendar.AppWidgetDatabase is in dying process org.koxx.pure_calendar"

If you find a message like that, then it's definitely the widget that's bringing down the launcher.

You can also look for something like

"Process android.process.acore (pid XXX) has died"

to see exactly when LP was killed.

is it possible to make your launcher a "visible" app? I'm suffering from redraws time to time because of android terminating the process due to low available memory.

I'm guessing all visible apps need to have an icon on the notification bar, so this could be an optional feature for those who don't mind an extra icon. Is it even possible for a launcher application to be a visible app?

I removed the Pure Calendar scrollable widget and rebooted. Started up maps, market, browser, and chompsms. LP got clobbered again so it appears to have nothing to do with scrollable widgets.

I do not run a custom rom. I do run Froyo. Phone performs flawlessly otherwise. This is a business phone, so I don't do all the themeing and other customization. For some reason ADW is not getting clobbered when I use it. I prefer LP due to the 3d drawer and the scrollable dock.

I guess it could be something random with my phone, but I question that due to the number of people having the problem. Early versions of LP did not have the problem for me.

are you using minfreemanager? also, what memory preset in LP? have you tried the "light" preset? also try disabling autu-rotate in LP.

I've tried just about everything, nothing has helped.

Minfree, just about every memory setting, force close setting, keeping in memory, etc etc.. I only have 3 home screens and 2 widgets (news and flip clock). Notifications are off.. it's really starting to drive me nuts. ADW seems to do it just as often, I've wiped, restored, it's clearly a Froyo issue (same problem on BB, UD, even stock OC).

I tried earlier versions..

I guess I'll just have to live with the redraws.

Have you tried Samsonite's instructions?

worked great for me for 3 days then slooooooow....slow...slow.

home replacements are great to play with but for real device use they don't cut it. This one is no different.

Launcher Pro running fine on my Moto Droid. I think it's very dependent on what apps you are using with it -- maybe what rom too; I don't know cos I'm not rooted.
I have my widgets distributed between LP, Power Strip, and Widget Locker; maybe that distributes the load?

Sent from my Droid using TARDIStalk

Yes, I've treid about anyone's settings that they claimed helped.

I also have power strip with 4 widgets, and I thought maybe Powerstrip was the issue but I disabled it for an hour and still had about the same amount of redraws.

using minfree aggressive, and light memory settings on LP, no 3d, no scrollable widgets, it it is working VERY GOOD. very few redraws. i even still have auto rotate on, turning it off helps even more. i'm also not using the notification icons or the scrolling dock.

using launcher pro ever since i upgraded to sapphire 0.8.4 and it's excellent for me.
no auto killer app for me. just got task panel (similar to an auto killer app) and quick settings accessible through notification window.
7 screens, setcpu widget, news/weather widget, digi clock widget, battery life widget, pandora widget. icons on every screen, 3D app drawer.
42 mb free phone space, worked well even when i was down to 25 mb.
free memory ranges from 32 mb to 90 mb with my ignored apps running.
and again no problems at all for me.
