I've never seen a soak test not get "leaked". And invariably someone leaks the soak build, as well. Once that happens, we compare it to the leak we already have, verify they're the same, and for me, not a damn thing changes. All I care about at this point is getting the FXZ which won't happen right away. Then the rom devs can upgrade to 242 and start working on 242 based roms. But seriously, after 8 freaking builds, one has to think we're already looking at the ota build.

They are official signed by Moto builds but........
As I said, could be completely unfounded and I have no real idea exactly what goes into compiling a FXZ or ROM...but it wouldn't be completely impossible...would it?

Until the word is "soak test starting now", you've got nothing. "They" can and have said everything from tomorrow til when the sun goes cool since day one. Unless something is actually happening, it is just speculation, no matter who says it at this point.

I think Sam is talking about an fxz so developers can start making .242 based roms instead of the current .232 based ones.
If .242 is ota you won't need an fxz you can just use hob to get you to .242 and your back on upgrade path.

I meant nothing by my incoherent babbling..but you are right,I don't have a full grasp on certain aspects, and am slowly learning but I do understand the security root check (qe 0/0, 0/1, 1/1) I had it showing on .232 for the short time I was running it but knowing that it might be in a place that can't be gotten to in order to zero it out does leave the questioning of what else could be lurking in those areas.
Not a conspiracy theory, more like a poorly written question I guess.
Questions are fine. The reason I get slightly annoyed is that people are going to read what you wrote and then spread it like wildfire as potential fact. "Oh, I read that 232+ users won't get an FXZ!" ETC. I've already had it happen to myself when discussing the POSSIBILITY that the then expected 240 build *MIGHT* not be rootable. I and another rombot member were chatting about potential ways to deal with it IF it turned out to be the case. A few days later a very prominent member of our community was posting on his twitter account "240 is unrootable." So we have to be careful on what we say and how we say it. Phrasing it as "is this possible?" would be good.So the answers are: No, we'll get an FXZ, no there isn't some kind of time limit built in as these leaks are potential OTA updates, and the reason they added the security is to disallow fxz'ing back to GB (on any moto vzw phone) and resetting the root counter.
I fully understand why you became annoyed and apologize for any aggravations my "question" brought you.
I've said it before, you know a hell of a lot more about these files than I do!![]()
