Liberty on GB

Currently running Liberty 2.0 on Froyo Droid X. When Liberty goes to Gingerbread will I have to go back to stock to download Gingerbread from Verizon and then install the new Liberty for Gingerbread or will the new Liberty be all inclusive and would I then just wipe data and cache and install the new Liberty ?

When Liberty goes to GB....if it does....I don't think you are going to have to SBF. Even right now to go to GB I don't think you have to SBF from a Froyo ROM....but you do have to SBF to go back from GB to Froyo....

P3droid, posted on Twitter that the OTA gingerbread from Verizon will not be rootable. If you want to be rooted usebthe leak. I will see if I can find his tweet, but I would much rather stay with liberty if they keep getting better and better.

Edit: @P3Droid: Just an FYI, Don't take the official OTA, I'm pretty certain that I can keep this root thing going for us...

SBF a non-rooted phone?

I've gone through the bricking and unbricking process a few times with my phone rooted, but I was wondering, if I were to take the OTA Gingerbread update, would it be possible to SBF it back to Froyo? (I.E. is it possible to SBF an unrooted phone?)

Thanks!

its possible but the ota will most likely update the kernel, baseband, bootloader etc so you'll brick your phone if you do. if the bootloader version stays the same then older sbfs would work :o

Oh rite rite... like what happened when I tried to SBF something other than 320/340. SERVICE REQ'D.

Hated that. But thank God I had resources (y'all) to help me figure it out. :-)

Would it be safe to assume that an SBF for rooted GB will come out in the coming weeks/months that wouldn't brick the phone?

hehe :3 that's what we're here for!

as for the gb leak, I can't say because I haven't kept up with the previous sbf leak timeline. I don't believe there will be one for the gb leak we have now but don't quote me on it :)

Of course we should all take this "unrootable" thing with a grain of salt, because the PS3 was uncrackable, Blu-Ray was unbeatable, HDCP was un-foolable, blah blah. Yeah right. :-)

And some dancing bananas. :icon_ banana::icon_ banana:

Thanks for the replies. :)

Agreed. It will only be a matter of time before root is discovered on gb ota. Till then we have a rooted version than runs great.

Since you have rooted GB, you can either sbf, flash maderstock, or flash TBH Monster X 2.2.340 which is an sbf put into an update.zip file. You just flash in CW Recovery & you're done. You will have to re-root/ bootstrap.

The Monster file is a flashable SBF .zip that I can flash via Clockwork like a ROM? If that's the case, score another win for TBH. Pinch me if I'm mistaken.

Where can I find the Monster file?

That's correct. And the file can be downloaded through their app. If you dont want to buy the app, search for maderstcok and download that. Or go to my droid world, I think all tbh downloads can be found there also.

My replacement for my d2 is a d2g will liberty work with the global phone? Thanks

Sent from my Xoom using DroidForums

No. It's completely different. Don't attempt to flash any D2 roms on D2G. Last I checked, there is one rom available for that phone. It's a pretty dead platform in that regard.

Thanks for the info. I guess Verizon giving me the free global to replace my d2 wasn't such a great thing.

can anyone post a link to screenshots for the various themes? clearly the various White/Red/Green GB themes are familiar as are Mysterious Beast - but some of them I've never heard of and can't seem to find screen shots - Epic Blue, Rogue Cell XRevamped, Oreo Slice, Titan, United Front... and - well that's mostly it.
anyway - if anyone could post links to some screen shots etc that would be great!

ps - I know the Liberty Toolbox and 2.0 in general are still WIP so I don't expect to see the previews built in to the Toolbox (like in 1.5) for some while yet.

great job guys.
