Manually Update to 2.0.1

Didn't work for me it keeps saying no such file.

did you rename the file to update.zip ? and have it on the top level of the SD card?

same here both 2.01 and root it reads
--Install from sdcard...
finding update package...
opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted

and it reads the same for the root file?

  • Navigate to "install update.zip" and let it install.
  • Reboot phone (should take 3-4 minutes).
Ok.. I'm back to here again.. at the bottom I do have an error that says "Can't open /cache/recovery/command"

I had that error last time too when it didn't work.

Again, I'm at the same place, I've scrolled down "with my volume switch" to where it says "apply sdcard:update.zip"

And its doing nothing.... how do you choose?... I simply turned the phone off last time and it rebooted without updating?

Your DROID is now running 2.0.1 instantly without waiting.

This part was a bit confusing because I just didn't install after navigating to where it says "update.zip".. it just sat there forever....

I did have to hit the power button to turn off the phone... then it rebooted and installed on its own.....but I still have the old firmware.... mine didn't take.

guess I'll try it again.
I updated my instructions -- when you have apply update.zip selected, press the gold button (center button) on the D-Pad to install.

Yeah make sure in Windows/OSX/whatever you have "Show file extensions" or something similar turned on in the Explorer/Finder etc options. If you don't it's going to effectively give the file two extensions like Mawnee said.

I renamed the file before copying it to the SD Card using Win7 x64 and it worked great, just make sure file extensions are on.

Once you scroll to where it says apply update.zip press the gold button on the D-pad to execute the command. YOu will see 5-6 lines scroll by as it does the update and it will let you know when its done and okay to reboot.

Sweet!... that was the missing link!... mines updating now!

"Installation aborted."

I renamed the file to update.zip and put it in the SD card (not in a folder). Anything i did wrong?

Only thing I can think of is that the file got changed to update.zip.zip, which would probably screw it up. Try renaming it to just update and let windows put the .zip on automatically.

Didn't work for me it keeps saying no such file.

you may need to just rename the file to "update". Its already a zip file, so renaming it to "update.zip" actually makes it update.zip.zip......
Forgot to make tihs point as well.

If you don't see a .ZIP extension at the end of the file DO NOT add one. Only add the .ZIP on the end if there was one before.

yep confirmed works now :icon_ banana:

this appears to me as though you didn't have the file in the root of the SD card. or you didn't name it correctly.

running it now as we speak, i liked the older lockscreen but seems to be running well otherwise
