MattyP's .215 Leak Classroom

To make a long story short... I didn't experience any drawbacks or issues after getting the OTA 4.0.4 (.211)... Quite the contrary!! I was (am) THRILLED with ICS (over GB)!! WAY better OS!! Then I got the forum newsletter and started poking around in here, found this thread, upgraded to .215 using "Course #1" and all is still fine.

Thanks, Matty, I guess. <- why is there no "shrug" gramelin?

Well im pretty sure the fdr and meter training did the trick. Underclocked to 1 gig and 300-600 when screen is off... im at 80% at 5 hours on battery with moderate use :D :D

Looking good! :D

I have had the same experience with ICS as you. I haven't ones wished to go back to gingerbread. (not that gb was bad, ics is just do much better) i did have to do a battery trading after gong to .215 because the first 30% of my battery was dying really fast. But with the trading process it's right back to normal, and I'm loving it. Like you, .215 was gonna have a hard time being much of an improvement because.211 was working great for me.

Are you running a custom ROM?

Hello everybody. I am getting the same error. I am rooted and have always used voodoo root keeper. I am not and have not ever run a custom rom on this phone. I am doing the temp unroot in voodoo and I do have safestrap installed. Other than that I'm stock on the ics ota update however after several seconds of trying to upgrade I get the status 7 error. Any suggestions?
Just tried again its giving a E: error tmp/sideload/package.zip or something that closely resembles that then has the error status 7 underneath that. I have redownloaded the file but still same outcome.
Thanks

I believe that you have to be bone stock, no bootstrap or safestrap installed, for the update to work. Just like a normal ota update.

I am guessing you are following the very first post in this thread, starting at lesson #3. Matty's steps should work for you. It doesn't make sense that it is not working. After you unroot, are you on ICS .211? I know both sydman and Matty should be able to help you.

Yes I am still on. 211. I did do the lesson 3 from the first post. I also removed safestrap and still get the same error.

If I remember correctly, removing safe strap is not as easy as just unistalling it. You will have to flash back to stock. 211. Then update to. 215

I just upgraded to .215 using Matty's instructions while riding down the road (not driving) in an 18 Wheeler! All seems to have gone well. If this old man can do it under those circumstances, anybody should be able to!!!

:bump:I want to bumb this because I am at a loss as to why this is not working but I am betting Sydman, MattyP or FoxKat might know what is causing the error and will be able to know whether this is easily fixable or not. Thanks guys!

^^^ What he said. You can't just "uninstall" safestrap, you will have to do a factory data reset, then use Matt's Utility 1.81 to go back to complete stock, (it's option 1 in the utility) and then do course #1. Then you can also use the utility to re-root your phone afterwards. :)

Sorry I have had a very busy day and haven't been on here much.
