MattyP's .215 Leak Classroom

Don't blame me for his avatar, Tis!

I keep saying I'm not coming back to this thread. And then I do.:p

It's like the Hotel California ... you can check [out] any time you like, but you can never leave! :D

My Razr wasn't recognized by my computer. I connect with the USB cord provided with the phone, the phone charges, but it isn't recognized. So I downloaded the file via Bluetooth to my SD card and followed your directions. It worked like a charm! Thanks for the info. My phone still isn't recognized by my computer even with the update. But the update worked. Thanks again.

Try making sure you have the latest Motorola drivers for your computer. That's usually a contributing factor to the phone not being recognized.

Glad it worked for you! :)

I believe that you have to be bone stock, no bootstrap or safestrap installed, for the update to work. Just like a normal ota update.

Used Matts utilility to go back to stock then rerooted and installed voodoo root keeper but NO boot strap or safestrap this time, then tried the .215 upgrade again. This time everything worked perfectly. Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Not! I was totally lost! Definitely was a team effort. I will only give myself credit for the bump because I knew there had to be a solution... the rest of you did everything else!

I call BS ... I didn't do a thing :rofl3:

Hello everybody. I am getting the same error. I am rooted and have always used voodoo root keeper. I am not and have not ever run a custom rom on this phone. I am doing the temp unroot in voodoo and I do have safestrap installed. Other than that I'm stock on the ics ota update however after several seconds of trying to upgrade I get the status 7 error. Any suggestions?
Just tried again its giving a E: error tmp/sideload/package.zip or something that closely resembles that then has the error status 7 underneath that. I have redownloaded the file but still same outcome.
Thanks

If I remember correctly, removing safe strap is not as easy as just unistalling it. You will have to flash back to stock. 211. Then update to. 215

:bump:I want to bumb this because I am at a loss as to why this is not working but I am betting Sydman, MattyP or FoxKat might know what is causing the error and will be able to know whether this is easily fixable or not. Thanks guys!

^^^ What he said. You can't just "uninstall" safestrap, you will have to do a factory data reset, then use Matt's Utility 1.81 to go back to complete stock, (it's option 1 in the utility) and then do course #1. Then you can also use the utility to re-root your phone afterwards. :)

Sorry I have had a very busy day and haven't been on here much.
