MattyP's .215 Leak Classroom

You might wanna post in the rescue squad forum so it comes to their attention quickly.
Sydman came to the rescue. :hail: All I had to do is hold the volume down and power button at the same time and the previous screen comes up. Yeah something simple, but if you dont know...and the thought of bricking the phone just leaves a sick feeling...

Good, i know the feeling. I.m glad you got help quickly.

I think we were spoiled with so many new leaks after ICS but I have to ask, has anyone heard if there is a newer version than 215?

So I am relatively new to the forum, but I have read through an entire .215 post in a different part of the forum and almost all of this one, so I have tried to do my homework before asking these questions.

1. I have stock ICS and what I believe is described as freezing/disabling the apps that come as bloatware. Do these apps need to be reinstated before going through the .215 flash process?

2. I have seen a lot of the 1.8 Recovering Utility created by a person named Matt(sorry if it's another name) being used by people to revert back if they were at .214 (which I am not). Do I need this utility before starting the .215 flash?

Thanks in advance

1. Yes you need to have all APPS unfrozen and available to be upgraded before starting this.

2. If you are on stock ICS .211 right now, then no don't worry about that utility just you do not need to run it.

Looks like this is still the latest one, don't worry if there is a new one people will be talking about it everywhere :)

Not a big deal, but you do not need to unfreeze apps if they are frozen with stock ics.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to have it, just incase something goes wrong, which it shouldn't but rather expect the best and plan for the worst.

Question Re Battery...Meter calibration

I am using stock charger and cord. When I plug my phone in the battery icon is blue and not...floaty. I could swear I have seen a green floaty battery icon in the past. What's the deal? Is this still going to work?
Oh...I'm not rooted and I just upgraded to .215 (Thank You MattyP!...also...while it wasn't that appealing to me before...I'm now considering trying root...lol)

Yeah gingerbread had the green floaty battery. Ice cream sandwich is blue and not floaty. Also welcome to the forum!

Rooting is easy as pie these days ... it's what you do AFTER rooting that is key. Just rooting the phone doesn't do anything except well, root the phone LOL

There are lots of things you can do that will improve battery life and the performance of your phone :p

I think you have just about convinced me....
but I should say my battery and performance seem to have improved with the .215 upgrade (from what I can tell after a few hours use)
...so you're saying rooting will make it eeeeven better?

The rooting itself will not improve the battery, but things you can do after you root will improve battery life, and give you more control over your phone. It's like having administrator permissions on a computer. ;)
