MattyP's .215 Leak Classroom

So I updated to .215 just fine with no problems.

Would you suggest I factory reset now? I only cleared my cache.

I swore I read a post in here somewhere recommending a factory reset after doing this update.

Then again maybe I was high and that post doesn't exist.

I highly recommend an fdr... it will ensure that everything will run as smooth as silk. Be sure to backup/save any pics, call logs, texts, etc first.

I backed up all my files...

I'm about to factory reset. I have the option to check off a box that will erase internal storage. Should I do that too?

This may be too late but don't erase your internal storage. It won't hurt anything except erase photos or files that weren't backed up but it's not necessary.

Ah, yeah, I did it anyway. I plugged my phone into my laptop and copied all the files off the internal that I wanted to save. It's all good.

I'm having a problem though after this reset... my WiFi keeps turning on, even though I keep turning it off... ??

I'll turn it off... then 5 minutes later it'll be turned back on. I can't seem to stop it.

I've never had this problem before, even after previous factory resets.

Wtf happened??

Just wanting to share my experience with the upgrade. It was totally horrible and then super awesome.

1. On GB my phone would have battery for days with light wifi use.
2. I upgraded to the x.211 and my phone was super hot while just sitting on the table. With absolutely no use, the battery would die in 30-60 mins at best from a full charge.
3. I upgraded to the x.215 and the problems only got worse. Phone still hot, battery still dead in 30 mins or less, and now many apps not responding and phone randomly rebooting.

All of this happened while I was using the phone for wifi only because I had not yet activated it to my account. After getting a new SIM and activating the phone to my account, every single issue went away. My phone is now dope as hell and the battery has barely gone down at all throughout the day.

This was after many attempted "fixes", so many hard resets, and a few upgrades/downgrades, etc.

What I attribute this to......
1. The phone has many apps that need to "initialize." From "My Verizon Data" to whatever-the-hell else...these apps were running their asses off. As soon as it was activated, had my contacts in it so the freaking fav widget could stfu, and so on, it was fine.
2. The SIM was bad and could not be activated on the network. The phone was persistently trying to access the SIM to activate the phone. This also killed the bat.

Anywho- If you are not in a 4G area, are using your phone on another network ("flashed phone"), do not have your contacts loaded, have not factory reset, etc., you may have issues.

Try these:
1. If you are on Verizon, make sure that you factory reset your phone and go through that stupid setup process again. DO NOT cancel out of it early.
2. If you are not in a 4G area, or are on another carrier, TURN OFF 4G until you can provision it.

I am loving ICS now....but want JB already. Hell, I have official JB 4.1.2 on my XOOM! Think I may rom this thing until an official drops.

***EDIT***
Forgot to add this. I removed my storage card and did another hard reset just before activating the phone. I noticed this morning when I saw my storage card on the table. I doubt the storage card has anything to do with it, just wanted full disclosure.

Bit confused. I installed 215' works like a charm. IF I do Factory Reset, now, after having installed 215-wouldn't the phone be set to software OS stae PRIOR than .215? Sorry for what may be a silly Q

It will not revert to anything prior to x.215. The purpose of a hard reset (factory reset) is to wipe any user data, settings, and other changes to the phone. It put's the phone in an out-of-the-box state. On most Android devices it does not wipe network provisioning which is a good thing. But it will not revert you to any previous software version or settings of a previous version...It simply reverts you back to x.215 with none of your user data/settings.

That being said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.If you are having no problem whatsoever, then you should probably leave well enough alone.

Trust me, I have 2 posts. lol :D

OK,thanks. 2 days now, 4g really drains batter. Since .215? Hmm? Setmjt to 3G and battery lasted longer. 3G is fine for my needs, 90% of time.
