I used these directions and they worked perfectly. However I am now trying to uninstall Swype and can not. When I try uninstalling through Astro it comes up saying Uninstall not successful. I get the same error if I try to install through settings -> application

I tried to just install it again using my APK file but when Astro just gives me the option to uninstall or Launch. Is there something I need to do to remove these themes so that it can uninstall?

I have the same problem.. uninstall it with Terminal using these comands.

su
sysrw [or whatever command works to mount system as read/write on your ROM]
busybox rm system/app/swype.apk
cd system/bin
sh pm uninstall com.swype.android.inputmethod
cd..
cd..
sysro [or whatever command works to mount system as read only on your ROM]
sync

(Don't type the stuff in brackets -- those are instructions)

this was posted wayyy earlier in this thread and works perfect as long as you have moved the swype.apk into the system/app folder.

I've been trying to theme my swype on my hero which is hvga and cannot get the new keyboard images to stick. I can get the glow to work. Not sure if because the image resolutions are not made to work with my phone. Any help would be appreciated. Literally been admiring your themes for a few days and finally decided to join this forum even though i dont on a MotoDroid.

send me your apk for i can compare the images, or just send me the files with in the apk. if anything i can make a theme to match the size images if they differ

Why can I get all of the zips to work put perfect but for the black/white? It appears to be a much smaller file when dl. I dl directly to phone and to pc and unzipped then transfered to phone.

i sent you a gmail, just extract the zip before you place it on the sdcard, works for everyone else that tries it, ill look at the file structure soon,right now i want to finish up my theme so i can post it

Totally took the plunge and tried converting it over to hvga. Your green with black keys. Gave you credit over on the xda forums. Any input would be appreciated. I will edit my files accordingly.

the screenshot looks good, feel free to port all my themes if you want, consider all the stuff i post as open source. if you need help ill try m best to help.

just used this method to change the color of swype on my droid..worked great. I'm now rocking the black with cyan letters. Thanks so much! I'm using the newest beta as well, and it worked just fine.

I'm having trouble finding the com.swype.android.inputmethod-1.apk

I do not have root explorer because I'm cheap, is this my problem?

I have AndExplorer and Astro installed, will they work?

i see the other colors have been download, can i get conformation that they applied correctly.

I'm using the black with blue lettering, but I also tested the blue and green themes, and both applied correctly.

Could sum1 plz tell me where i might be able to find these as skins? I dont use swipe, but i REALLY like the looks here. :icon_ banana:

Finally got around to getting swype to work and theming it, and everything worked without a hitch and looks great! Thanks sneaky!

I'm interested in sporting another look now, something more minimalist like the rEVOlution HTC_IME keyboard:

(But all white)

Would this be possible? I was gonna try to fiddle with it myself but was pretty sure I'd break something.

EDIT: I just tried the DarkEdge version and realized it was pretty much this idea. Hmm..how difficult are MM themes to work with? Would the XML still work if some of the images were altered? If that's cool w/ you of course.

yeah the xml will work if you alter the images, just make sure you keep the structure of the folders the same and dont rename the zip or xml,if you do a rule of thumb is that the zip file and xml needs to have same name.
