Incorporate a stolen mode which once invoked records all phone activity in an easily viewable way

Just downloaded Wavesecure and it failed with SMS

So I just downloaded this app and tried it out. First, I tried locking it from the website and it seemed to work. Then I tried to lock it from my wife's phone (buddy). The white screen showed up and said that it was locked. Then the screen went black like it was in saver mode. I pushed the power button to regain the screen and it was not locked. I never entered my pin. In fact, when I go onto the wavesecure website, it says that my phone is still locked but I have full access to my phone. It didn't work.

Anyone else having location accuracy error?

Some users seem to locate their phones within a few feet. But, when I tried to locate my phone on the website location tracking feature it's location changes with each search and it's location is several blocks away.

Is this fixable? Does anyone else have similar accuracy problems?

How am I going to beat the crap out of the thief if I can't find him?

I have the same problem. I too would like to shoot the thief in the knee for stealing my phone. Cheewee imagine the free publicity if a thief nabs the phone, customer tracks it, then beats the hell out of the thief w/ a bat. That would be all over the news.

My guess is that your issue is because you don't have GPS enabled. If it is not enabled, it uses towers to "approximate" your location and that can change with each view.

I wish that were the case. But, unfortunately, I do indeed have the GPS on. How accurate is it for you?

But, that brings up another quesiton. If the GPS has to be "on" ..... Can you remotely turn the GPS "on" to ensure the tracking map accurately show the phone location?

No you cannot.

If the GPS cant acquire a signal then it will use the towers as well. So sometimes deep in a building as opposed to near a window you wont acquire a signal.

I have the same problem where WS is locating my phone blocks away. I'm outside the radius it is predicting it to be located within.

I have GPS off, but it doesn't appear to be triangulating, simply pinging back the current tower. Seems i'm getting signal from that tower outside of the projected range.

Idears?

Tired of switching around on these security apps. I'd like to stick with WS and get rid of Lookout, Where's my Droid and the others.

WS Seems ok to me.

I hv just installed WS and noticed 2 problems already.

1. I added 3 buddies during the prelim. registration/setup after install. Then I decided to delete 2 of them and remain 1 for testing purpose. However, I noticed then the 3 names still appear on the 'Settings' sections on the Website when my phone is currently showing 1 person on my buddy list?? pls fix asap as there doesnt seem to be way to edit Settings on the Website?! Plus, if I have to try editing/uninstall/reinstall on my phone, it will end up repetitively bugging my buddies since you guys have no button for just TESTING but each time it bugs ppl w/SMS alert.

2. I see that in the FQA/Feature sections that there is an Auto back up feature, but I couldnt find it on my apps installed on the phone? Where is it???

Thanks for giving WaveSecure a spin.

The text notifications to your buddies are sent from the client on your phone. Once you have removed the numbers you don't need to worry about WaveSecure sending text messages to those buddies removed from the list.

We apologize for the web site not reflecting the change. I've logged this down and informed our development team.

WaveSecure runs on Symbian S60 3rd/5th Editions, Windows Mobile and Android. Scheduled backup is available for Symbian and Windows Mobile. We're still working on Android to include that feature.

We're also working on launching a new website. We will update the FAQ to reflect that.

Doesn't look like either of these will work for me (no SMS)... I have deactivated SMS from my account (VZW apparently sells the numbers, as I NEVER got spam before switching to VZW) and I thought WaveSecure would get around this... It did allow me to connect and register and even connects to the server from the phone (e.g. to backup contacts) but no server initiated commands will work (i.e. I cannot backup or LOCK the phone from the server/computer)... oh well...

MobileDefense will not even allow you to activate w/o SMS. I guess I'll keep WS on just in case and then I call call VZW and get them to activate SMS before I have to lock and wipe the device should it get stolen.

But that was the problem occured yesterday, I have already deleted the other 2 buddies on my phone but when i did a test lock on the website, the SMS still went to all 3 of my buddies. That was why I then checked my settings on the website and found out it still showing 3 instead of 1 buddy. Now I am scare to run any test again fearing my mates will all run away fm me ~
