[MOD] Gingerbread 2.3 Keyboard w/ working Predictions

I have a D1 and cant get the keyboard to work. I fought through all of the force closes to get to settings and selected 'Input Languages' but had a pop up that had 2 different input language things to select. Both of them give me a force close when I select either. How can I get this working?

For All droid users you are going to have download the file and unzip it and Then go into system/apps folder and rename The keyborad from LatinIME.apk To LatinImeGoogle.apk. Then use winzip or 7zip and rezip the file back up then you should be good to go. Its working great on my Droid one phone.

I did an sbf and it seems to have turned out ok, untill someone figures out a way to install this for odexed rooted stock users, I'll just do without. I'm looking forward to 2.3 though.

im on a Droid X running Rubix Focused 1.9.0 and blackjuice theme. Installed the zip using bootstrap (ROM Manager gave me some issues). Keyboard was small at first but the LCD Density fix worked perfectly. However, later on, a reboot reset everything and the KB was small again, so apparently the LCD Density fix will need to be done after each reboot. I had been running WJDs black MT KB mod, and when I installed the zip on top I got a lot of FCs, so I removed the MT KB and installed the stock AOSP KB, then installed the Fab's gingerbread KB and have had no problems (other than having to redo the lcd fix after reboot).

I didn't have to do this. I just booted into recovery, installed the zip as usual, and rebooted. Maybe it depends what ROM you're using. FWIW, I'm using a UD ROM.

I kept getting force closes until I went into settings and disabled the original keyboard. Everything was as smooth as butter after that.. no size issues or anything else. I've tried several of the keyboards from the market, but I've never been able to type as quickly on those as I can on this one. I love how the keys are smaller & a little more spaced with this keyboard.. it kinda tricks you into being a little more accurate with the typing.

It's pretty obnoxious to have to reset the LCD each time you reboot....

Using Charity ROM.

Installed RM, flashed clockwork mod, backed up, installed kb.

Reboot, no fc, no issues.

Excellent!

Sent from my rooted A855.

Same here, just installed and rebooted. KB was ready to use.
Love it!

I'm restoring my phone from backup now. I couldn't figure out what keyboard was the right one and didn't read about the FC (Droid 1 running BB.5)

I'm gonna re-install with this one. The keyboard I had earlier was downloaded from somewhere else (droid-life?)
